should try the Morningstar as a 2nd weapon if you haven’t (in the first boss’s camp if you didn’t find it). Solid middle ground between faster axes and two-handed weapons in speed/damage. And once you get it spinning the light attack just does a speed flail that mows people down. As far as what you can do with it in group battles it’s a fun weapon to use. The high damage for a one handed weapon is also nice when you need a shield secondary. I’ve been switching to shield secondary when assaulting somewhere with lots of archers on walls
Also cant wait to bring home the Viking World Orlag Championships trophy this year. Pretty dominant at that and the poetry rap battles
After stepping out of the Animus the first time, I realize the overall story is a continuation from Odyssey - now I'm tempted to go finish it. Someone want to just spoiler the story for me - I still had a lot of hours left on that one.
Fun fact, if you find yourself falling, hit heavy attack just before you hit the ground and you won't lose any health.
I’ve died jumping from lookout points more times than I should. Just way too used to jumping straight off the front of every one
Yeah I don't understand the sync points either. There used to always be one safe way to jump down. Are we supposed to climb down now? At least the fall damage isn't nearly as extreme as in previous versions.
Also enjoyed the first little “Data Packet” puzzle mystery. Which none of my friends IRL have seen yet... blue dot activity that is this games way of finding the codex mini-movie pieces. Felt like I was playing a shrine game in breath of the wild.
it seems completely random whether or not there’s a safe.............. HAYven to jump down to. I think most of the time in England, after you build the assassin base in your settlement and get taught the swan dive it’s mostly safe to jump down. But jumping off one in Norway you’re probably smashing on rocks at the base of a glacier mountain
Visually it’s below Ezio’s and Odyssey. The frozen tundra and mid-1st century English countrysides aren’t blowing you away with eye candy. Gameplay and Story it’s top tier.
I have two raids left, but they are both huge pains in the ass. I also think I have a broken mission that might fuck me but I am choosing blissful ignorance for the time being. Had this week off work, so I’ve been grinding. Like 13 hours deep, but not too much of that has been spent on story.
Im running into that issue with the Grendel mission. I follow the chick to the farm and nothing happens. I looked online and Im supposed to talk to the hurt soldier. I find him but he just lays there. I cant talk to him.
What level are most of you on? I’m ~48 I think and still wrapping up my first alliance / finding Ceo’s little whiny kid, medieval Bobby Hill. My raiding is crisp since I recruited my 4th monster of the midfield Jomsviking (found 2 in the old country).
Spent like an hour singlehandedly sieving a castle last night before I looked online and found there’s a storyline to open the longhouse door. As a result, soldiers kept respawning in this big ass base and I kept mowing them down. Racked up a fuckton of silver.
Does it matter what horse you have or are those just aesthetic things? I assume the skills stay with you and not the horse
I bought the digital version today and started playing. I had some extra money on a gift card so i bought the small helix coin package and bought a couple items. They aren't showing up in my inventory though. Any one else having this problem? Side note.. i did just now make it to the village after saving my crew so maybe they won't show up till after that?
I would like to revise my preferred weapon to the War Hammer. that 100+ stun currently pagan dick-slaps all Mercians with either death or stun insta-stomp. Have had quite a few laughs when the stomp perk animation gives my enemies a devastating slam-kick in the balls instead of the face. brother was playing for me while I was working friday and only let him do raids and such so he doesn't fuck up any storylines or dialogue. He attempted to fight one of the fanatic hunter level 90 guys. It was comical to watch and after seeing him try 4-5 times I honestly don't even know how I would approach it because that MFer blocked everything, even counter attacks.
So they showed up before I even beat what's his name the cruel. I think soon as Sigurd showed up for the first time.
I'm a whopping level 12. Doesn't seem right that I was able to kill off the first big villain already.
I remembered in Odyssey that the mercs could be found at your level...so the first time I rolled up on one in Valhalla, I was expecting a good fight but nothing crazy. I shot an arrow at his back from the bushes and he basically dickslapped me without getting off his horse. Threw a spear from 50 yards and I was done.
The first “zealot” is level 90 but I still gave him 3 tries at level 35. Im up at 70 and about to try again. Hoping to make it twice as long
My next quest appears to be meeting King Harald at the gathering but im like a bazillion levels below the recommended power level
Pretty sure you just have to get the without getting in fights. I recall one of the earlier missions having a waypoint in the middle of a recommended 200+ level.
I've had a lot of fun with the poetry rap battles. I turn up the volume and tell my wife to STFU so I can focus. Orlag is great. I've lost a couple times, but have a good strategy now. Focus on getting the red squares and hand (steal) the first couple turns. Then just keep stealing and using the special move to knkock of 5 or 8 health. Trick that I learned when freaking out as I fell off a cliff. If you hit R2 (heavy attack) as you're falling down a big drop, you do the attack and don't take any fall damage. This is kind of cheating, but it saves so much time. Especially when you fall and have to restart back 10-20 minutes.
I have a glitch on the Cent alliance mission. The guy won't let me talk to him. I tried killing civilians to reset and it doesn't work. I'm just going around unlocking high points so I can fast travel when I can do quests later. I still haven't done the quest where you drink the potion at Ravensthorpe. I think that's what I need to do to progress further.
You gain a ton of experience from doing the little mini-quests in your city. Make sure you talk to the people. I gained 2 levels from doing this white deer quest from the hunters lodge. I'm level ~200. I like doing the blue mysteries. Easy experience, and some make you actually think. I HATE the cairn things though. I spent 45 minutes yesterday trying to get the fucking rocks high enough. I got them all stacked and was a milimeter short so I had to start again. Most have been really easy, but 1 was 10/10 difficult and another was 8/10.
Power level is 230 just tried to take on the lowest level Daughter of Lerion who is power 90 I got absolutely washed
i went 0/4 against my first zealot and best match I probably did 1/3 damage to him. I’m a weakly 53 though. He blocked all my shit and countered real goddamn fast with two reds
