I've heard two people tell me a pcp told them that this week. A buddies daughter also caught it earlier this year from a classmate whose mother is a nurse and says the same shit. Two months ago and she still can't smell.
Lawsuit would be worth watching. But ask for burning the nurse at the stake instead of monetary compensation
Anybody who puts shit out like that on social media using a phone or computer should take a hammer, use it to smash their phone or computer so the gubment can't find them, then use the hammer to cave their own skull in to move society forward.
Day 2. Went to a clinic before it opened. 50 people in line already only to learn that they only have 30 rapid tests. Cool. Went as a walk in somewhere else and 3 hour wait. Ended up only being 2 hours. Negative! Guess this runny nose in my house is just that.
The rapids have a high false negative rate. Take care of yourselves, wear masks, and try to avoid other people 10 days from symptom onset.
This needs to be common knowledge and it simply isn’t. wife is friends with a masseuse and she tested positive 4 days ago and then tested negative yesterday. She says she’s going back to work tomorrow
pperc saw some estimates that as many as 20 million Americans may be vaccinated before the end of the year... is that a rather optimistic timeline in your view? I can't imagine distribution will be a smooth logistical operation with the administration in even worse tatters than normal.
This is pretty much our lives anyway. We're not like the other people in the clinic to which they said "have a safe flight!" And we're not getting tested so we can go to a 30 person Thanksgiving. Also kinda annoying that idfferent sites have different tests. So the one I was finally able to get into only does rapid. I was hoping to get both.
Lets suppose the positive test was rapid and the negative was a PCR. The recommendation is still quarantine correct? I think until we develop more accurate testing across the board that has to be the way we handle every situation. Do you see a situation where the tests will become more accurate any time soon?
Actually, no. Positive rapid without symptoms and then a negative follow-up PCR would be considered negative. That’s also how the NFL has been handling it. I don’t believe we will testing that’s any better then it already is in terms of lower limits of detection. That said, Abbott’s tests are better than Labcorps are better than...
I think this makes sense. When you start talking about some large-scale distribution for at-risk and frontline workers, you consolidate by having central distribution (city hall for municipalities, hospitals for all health care, nursing homes for elderly, etc). That makes it feasible. Broad adoption will be fragmented, messy, and require compliance/follow up.
I'm sure there will frustrating aspects, but it's going to be incredible to watch this happen. Great news for the health of ppl who come after us (future vaccines and therapies).
I read there will be 40 million vaccines in US by the end of the year but it’s a two dose vaccine which is where the 20 million number comes from.
Family went and got the flu shot today. I asked the nurse if this would be the same set up for the Covid vaccine when it comes out. She said yes and she expected it to be out by end of winter beginning of spring for the regular population. Wifey works at the hospital but hasn't heard when they may get it. Guessing they will have the volunteers at the homeless shelter have the first batch.
My cousin had my grandparents over two wednesdays ago for a birthday dinner for one of their kids. My cousin was sick at said dinner. A couple days later my grandpa developed a cough and fatigue, and we found out a buddy my cousin had hung out with a few days before the dinner tested positive. The grandparents have been tested and are still awaiting results. Today my grandpa went to the ER with trouble breathing. What I find absolutely amazing is that if this had been last year and the flu, my sickly cousin wouldn't have let my very old grandparents around him. But since they're maga losers, covid is fake and now no amount of illness is gonna keep them from living their life. Fucking idiots.
I'm assuming there is a suicide thread - but just got a call from a friend's mom - and I'm an emotional bitch so not exactly the epitome of strength on that front. Fuck 2020 altogether. I feel like almost every week I get a call - really sad. Covid's ancillary affects are going to be felt for a while.
If son was positive then she probably was. False negatives with rapids is very high, particularly with no symptoms. That’s so irresponsible to go back sooner than 10 days post her positive rapid test. And also dumb not getting a PCR swab.
They may have just killed your grandfather or seriously shortened his quality of life going forward. They should never live down that stain on your family.
What are the chances of a false negative pcr? Last week, I had a 102* fever Monday/Tuesday, got tested Wednesday, and negative Thursday. I haven’t felt as bad the last few days, but I am still getting an elevated temperature (99-100*) and light body aches at night. I had an minor surgical procedure two weeks ago that created some complications like a minor infection and internal bleeding. Most of my circle is chalking this malaise up to fallout from that as opposed to Covid.
I have a few complaints to register: 1. We seem incredibly bad at contact tracing. On Nov. 19th we were told that my daughter, who is in 8th grade, was in contact with someone who tested positive and needs to quarantine until Nov. 26th. Which seemed odd, because the protocol is to quarantine for 14 days. If she's quarantining until the 26th, it means she was exposed in the 12th. A fucking week?? it takes a week to figure that out and tell us??? 1b. I asked the school where she was exposed. They said the bus. Cool. She has not ridden the bus a single time this year. Nice work. 1c. I posted this and had several people respond: same thing happened to us, they told us 8 days after our son was in contact! and similar responses. People from Florida, Ohio, New York. How are we so bad at this???? 2. On Nov 19th when we were told she needed to quarantine (prior to figuring out she was not really exposed), I saw a free pop up test at the University of Toledo. I'd gone to a pop up test a month ago, where I drove thru, they swabbed me, and that was it. I figured it would be a good idea to go get my daughter tested, and I might as well test too. We pulled into the lot, and there was a line, people standing in line, for like 500 yards, from a building where the testing was being done. I was like what the fuck?? It was a single file line and when it got near the building it turned into a zig-zag corral line, like when you are waiting in line for a roller coaster. We went to the end of the line and were standing there talking. my daughter is saying this is dumb, everyone in this line either has covid, has symptoms, or has been in contact with someone who has it, it's a collection of sick people, why are we standing anywhere near them?? 6 feet, cool, but I'd rather be 30 feet. Then we have to get to the front where we have people on either side of us in the corral? Before we go into the building where they test, the same building where every other one of these 500 people in front of us has gone in and out of?? She said If I don't have it, I'm going to by the time we leave here. We got out of line and went home. It seems like a really, really dumb way to test a large group of people. I think it followed protocol, technically, like the corrals were 6' apart, but they were literally exactly 6' apart. And we are relying on everyone in line to maintain distance, and hope you're not standing down wind. Seems really dumb. Am I over-reacting??
The infection could certainly produce fever. Are you on antibiotics? Any cough or other symptoms? False on pcr are possible - as high as 40%. If you have fever I assume you’re not going anywhere anyways so just stay home for another week.
I just finished 5 days of antibiotics for the infection from surgery. My high fever broke after two days of medicine. No other symptoms, no cough, etc. We aren’t going anywhere this week, but my in laws were planning to come over Thursday.
Received the Abbott rapid antigen test last Thursday after some potential exposure at work. Will get tested again Tuesday. Woman swabbing my nose says “Pull your mask down, five seconds each nostril,” and proceeds to make about two revolutions in each nostril, taking maybe two seconds. Left thinking no wonder these things produce false negatives.
