Just go work somewhere else if you hate it so much. You know, like literally everyone else does in the world when they don't like their job. These people sound like such stereotypical whiny millennials.
Yeah man it’s the whiny millennial, not the boomer who refuses to pay living wages who is the problem. Just go get a new job in a shit economy gosh.
the reflex for people to frame the discussion around labor organizing the way they do tells you a lot about themselves vs the actual reality of the situations
Plenty of jobs have stipulations that you can't have a side gig. Side gigs are often considered bad for optics.
Kinda more “millennial” to say — well I need to cover cost of living but I can’t bartend bc the optics are bad for me. Some professions in certain sectors I can see someone making an argument about “optics”, but a fucking writer? Or digital whatever fresh out of college? Nah.
War Grundle 8MM Rewatchable dropped, I've only seen it once and thought it was pretty disturbing, probably gonna sit this one out
I’ve never seen it. Was hoping it would be a better one this week. Last month has been disappointing. Home Alone was great but the previous three were Toy Story, American President and the Exorcist. Never saw the last two either.
The SJU thread is a bizarre thread full of possible bots and single thread horny posters. This is also a bizarre thread, as it's basically turned into most of us roasting Bill and Russillo with others doing a months long rendition of the "leave britney alone" video in response to the rest of us.
I read the thread because it amuses me. The mix of people who read/watch/listen to the content while seemingly hating it and the hardcore defense of Simmons/Russillo makes it very odd to me and I enjoy it
I think hate reading / listening to Simmons has always been his appeal because he reminds everyone of someone they know. Ryen with an E has added a wonderful new dynamic though.
I’m going to come across like an asshole for a minute, but basketball podcaster seems like more of a side job than bartender.
Minor?!?! He unfollowed them! Serious question though. How many writers/hosts/bloggers work for the ringer? I assumed 20ish, but maybe that number is a little high
Celemo I just looked up the cast on IMDB. Pretty good. Cage Phoenix Gandolfini Peter Stormare Catherine Keener Chris Bauer It’s free on Amazon. I’m going to give it a shot.
Sure, but I’m curious how much work goes into a biweekly podcast like the nba group chats, especially when it’s more of an ensemble. I’m all for paying people a living wage, I just don’t know they Id call group chat contributor a full time job. Was super shitty of Bill to use the optics line about him getting a bar tending job.
I assume most people podcasting for the site also do other things for the site. But if a podcast is really popular, prepping for a twice a week podcast is likely a full-time job
The original people on a lot of Ringer pods did other stuff. As the latest NYT article notes, they're hiring a lot more outside voices to do pods only now, and those outside people aren't part of the union.
Yeah I just started it. Pretty dark. It might end up being good but not something I think I could re-watch 4-5 times. Chris and Bill have an odd opinion of what is a Rewatcheable sometimes.
Other than Requiem for a Dream, I'm trying to think of a 'mainstream' movie I wanted to rewatch less than 8mm. That was not an enjoyable experience and it wasn't all that good, at least Requiem had some fantastic performances.
I've watched that on purpose, twice now, so I think that's ahead in the 'Rewatchable' standings(granted the wife hadn't seen it so wasn't really my choice, but, still, voluntarily watched it more than once)
Romo was fantastic, damn near everything he said went over Bill’s head not surprisingly, but still worth a listen. The golf talk at the end was brutal on Bill’s part
I really enjoyed the Iverson pod with Adande. Simmons and Adande talking about guys Adande covered is almost always a fun listen.
