I've heard amazing things about this place. Going to need a full review. It's about 60 miles from my in-laws lake house. Going to try and play there a few times this summer.

We got it so cheap that we are trying to make it work. The restaurants and bars are closed. Takeout only. Beginning to think we should do the same.

We did takeout the whole time we were there and preferred it. Granted, we got spoiled in an upgraded room and it meant we spent more time on the Punch Bowl so it was very welcome. Stop somewhere in whichever town you fly into and get booze for the room

Played it over the summer. Great track. One thing I wish I knew was their greens were slow as molasses compared to what I play here in Tally

Not sure why but they bumped us up. We paid for the Lily Pond basic double room and ended up in a Chrome Lake loft, both had our own bedroom with a king and bathroom. Calling in carry out orders was really convenient and if I remember right they were even delivering to rooms if you request it

My friend arranged it directly through the resort. He was on the phone with the booking person all day piecing it together. Just under a grand and here is our schedule:

    12-5 Bandon Trails
    12-5 Pacific Dunes
    12-6 Pacific Dunes
    12-7 Bandon Preserve
    12-7 Bandon Dunes
    12-8 Old Mack
    12-8 Bandon Dunes
    12-9 Bandon Preserve
    12-9 Sheep Ranch

Lodging and hotel. First round of golf is $100, second of the day is $50. Rooms are $170 a night, 2 to a room.

Bandon’s pricing varies widely based on time of year. Taking the gamble on weather in December gets you crazy good rates and you can get lucky and have sunny 50 degree days. You also pay a huge premium to go over the summer when the weather is best/days are longest, but that gives you more time to squeeze in more than 36 if you want to. Getting in 36 over the winter leaves you a really tight turnaround but I’ve read it’s still plenty doable

Looks really solid. If anything, I’d try to fit in another Preserve round on the 6th or Sheep if possible, you’ll want more than one loop on that track. Also fyi, when you do a big course + Preserve, I believe it doesn’t matter which order you play in, you’ll pay the full fee on the big course then half on Preserve. Will be an amazing trip no doubt (if it still happens)

Thanks for all the info! Hope my fat ass doesn't die from all the walking. We have some flexibility for another round. We are also going to try and play Bandon Crossings if it is open while we are there.

Crossings sounds great too. Are you taking a caddie? We were really happy we ended up doing so, our round on Pacific we had a few holes where the fog was so thick you couldn’t see start lines. It’s definitely a lot of walking so mixing in Preserve with a big course is smart with how easy that one is; you shouldn’t need more than a 7 or 8 iron depending on wind on Preserve too so empty out your bag

Highly recommend our guy Tom Thompson, assuming he’s still around (he also loops at LACC and Chicago Golf). We also were paired with a younger guy named Casey that I got on really well with. You can reach out to the caddie master and see if either are working/available or just let them book someone for you

This game can be so fun and frustrating at the same time. Finally figured out a few things on my swing and it’s all coming together. Got in a quick 9 this afternoon. There’s 2 holes on this course that are just in my head and I screw them up. I double bogeyed both holes and shot a 39. If I par those then I’m under par for the first time since college. Anyone got ideas on how to get over a hole mentality? One is a par 5 so I think about clubbing down off the tee and just trying to play the hole not to screw up. This hole is a blind tee shot that goes to the right. I always push my drive into OB on the left trying to shorten the hole. Then the hole doglegs left on the second shot. If my tee shot clears the woods then I hook the next shot OB. I’ve played this course 7 times and never not lost a ball.

You mean 17th? The par 3 on the lake?

My brother has done a corp event and rented that house. There is a light mounted in a tree behind the green so you can play it after dark.

Had a good time but we were just there to play a sober round in the morning. Would love go back for a weekend to explore the property more. Didn't even get to see the inn or try the restaurant.

Nope, the cabins off to the right on 18. We played the course 3x over that weekend. Woke up a bit before sunrise Saturday and went out with 2 other buddies and played 16, 17, and 18 barefoot in the carts they gave us. We passed a guy fishing in the pond to the left of 17 green who had tons of empty beer cans in his cart and was hammered.

Wife has a work thing at the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst beginning of January. It's only Friday night so going to go down Saturday and we are going to stay another night. Want to get a round in weather permitting, have never played any of the courses there, what should be my move? From initial research was leaning #4.

If you’re doing the hotel/golf package then #4 is the best value. My wife and I were supposed to be there this past weekend but had a sick kid. Pinehurst let us reschedule for next weekend and I have a tee time on #4.

4 is my favorite course. They also have a crazy putting green you can mess around on with 18 holes and a really sick par 3 course called the cradle.

2 is a bit overpriced, especially that time of year. 4 is the best value. Hit The Cradle if you have additional time.

Not sure if anyone else uses the NLU message board much but there’s some huge drama blowing up there. Today they announced that the board will go behind their membership paywall after a few recent events. I listened to their pod about it and sounds like essentially there are topics that appear to directly reflect their business since it’s on their message board even though they don’t. Also people just generally being shitty (there was some huge debacle at their recent event of a guy getting accused of cheating for writing down an incorrect score but he suffers from short term memory loss). They don’t want their board to be the wild west that it has become which is fair as it’s pretty hard to read at times because some of those guys are a little much
