No idea if completely different team this year or not, but Mcneese lost to Wiscy and Texas last year by 20 and 2, respectively
Trying not to get too excited because McNeese State but also remembering the teams we lost to last year. Very obvious improvement. Like another poaster said earlier if Fred can keep the core intact we could have a stew brewing. Keep improving
The Big Ten is going to be insanely tough this year, so getting these guys some experience/letting them shake the rust off in a “free year” hopefully is big for us. Maybe at least one team in Lincoln uses it to their advantage.
We dunk the ball a lot again. But honestly, we will have to wait and see, IMO. Noticed we started a forward and 4 guards. Remember how the B1G loved to put their big men to work against us in the paint (and how the refs loved to give them the calls). If we actually are a good shooting and hustling team we might be able to overcome that though. I have hope...we aren't going to have many close games against Cal Baptist and Incarnation of the Holy Word.
A forward and 4 guards that were 6-9, 6-9, 6-6, 6-6, 6-4. That's pretty good size. Yvan is the only real forward/center type now that Walker is out for a while but Hoiberg's system isn't meant for that type of player really.
And our 3 point shooting was so much better and spread around than kind of any time I've watched ever.
yeah, I know the height and length seems good. But 6'9" 200 is still only 200 pounds. I'm still thinking back to how easily we were boxed out and posted up against the past few years. Remember those big lumbering whites up north? 240-260 pound whites with fundamental footwork and the desire to grab a rebound? Hopefully we just shoot over the top of those goons this year.
rebounding and post D will be the major question marks, you pretty much just have Mayen and Yvan at this point inside. anyone heard anything on Eduardo Andre? I watched the first 15 minutes of Illinois (very good) and kids like that Cockburn and Garza for Iowa are still going to be extremely bad problems for us.
Which is a step in the right direction. This is easily the most legitimate collection of talent since the "No Sit Sunday" crew and in many respects, better on paper at this point. The trajectories of the fball and bball programs couldn't be more different.
Nevada looks to have some length, but they also have renowned douche Steve Alford as their head coach: Fighting Fred’s - 71 UNR Heathens - 65
Nevada doing a really good job controlling the pace of the game, hopefully we can get it going in the 2nd half.
