Went to a store yesterday and was asking if they had anything in the back room. They sold me a bottle of Weller green label. They said they get EHT and Blantons every 2 months or so and I would just need to come in and ask. Guess I'll start going to that place as my go to liquor store and asking every time if they have that stuff in the back .
Locally? This one was $189 at Chattanooga Wine and Spirits. Grabbed just a regular Angel’s Envy and a New Riff and when I went to the counter to pay the guy was like did you see the one over in our case? Have never seen one in the wild before. Had a nice pour of GTS ‘20 and OWA at STIR too.
A new shop over in Hiram. They’re getting some nice bottles from the distributors just to start them off, but they’re high on everything and have nothing in the way of store picks. Don’t see them being a good option long term.
I honestly didn’t see. I was like a kid in a candy store. They had a huge selection and the store is very nice. Wanted to go to Imbibe but the wife veto'd that after what I spent at STIR and Chatt W&S
Figure it’s a long shot but does anyone have an unopened WLW they’d want to trade me for an ORVW + another bottle to equal out the value? I already have 1 ORVW and got 2 more in store lotteries this year. The WLW remains my elusive unicorn
Yea that’s my issue. And the one I’m in that hasn’t banned pappy I don’t think anyone will have a WLW
Confirmed with my local store that EHT is just not sending as much as they used to. I guess they are doing that on purpose to drive up demand and cost ? Or is it a supply chain thing? I have no clue.
You gotta get with the lingo or some of the stores will think you’re a clown. There are many different offerings of EH Taylor and they are part of the Buffalo Trace Distillery, which is owned by the Sazerac company. Buffalo Trace also makes Blanton’s, the various Weller offerings, Elmer T Lee, Eagle Rare, Sazerac Rye, etc...
Was talking to a friend about the Blantons and he brought up that it could be fake. I hadn't even thought about that as I purchased them from a liquor store but is there a way to check if the SFTB bottles I purchased are real or fake? I am going to be very pissed if they are fake.
I doubt you bought fake Blanton's from a liquor store. That is one reason why I would prefer to buy at Secondary prices from a liquor store rather than Facebook. I was talking to one of the owners I am friends with here, and he told me that he can't even buy stuff and resell it because he could get in trouble if they verified the serial numbers. He had a chance to but 4 cases of pappy from like North Dakota or something and he said no, because he didn't want to risk getting caught. That said, I did make my first Facebook secondary purchase the other day. Also Blanton's, one gold and one black. They just arrived today. Everything looked legit to me including boxes, wax, etc.
Last night to get these free with any $40 or more purchase or $14.95 special price. Good secret santa office gift or similar for the holidays. https://kybourbontrailshop.com/official-bourbon-tasting-glass-4pk.html
Sftb isn’t sold in the U.S., but if you purchased overseas they are likely real. Post pics and we’ll look at them.
Damnit posted in wrong thread first... 18 months later bump. Anybody else try Flaviar and have a positive review? I was thinking about getting a membership for my brother in law for Christmas but Oranjello has me second guessing it.
Definite fakes. Mail them to me, I'll dispose of them free of charge. It's the least I can do to end your suffering.
Why does your friend suspect they may be fakes? Seems like a strange choice for a fake given the boxes/wax/toppers required.
wax and all looks good. holy shit at those older dump dates. those bottles had been sitting in that store a while!
My guy wanted 120 but I passed. He holds great stuff but he definitely doesn’t cut me any deals. Got two Very Old Barton handles for $20 each today so I’m happy.
Get the store pick HW Double Rye finished in Syrah barrels from Total Wine on Barrett for $55. It’s an excellent substitute for MWND.
Today was a good day. Got my 14 year MGP in the mail and got super lucky and got the last bottle of this guy FYI any NC guys, looks like Stagg Jr is hitting the state this week, or at least here in Wake County it did.
Top 20 of 2020... Surprising #1 and #2. I don't put too much stock into these lists, but still fun to look at. https://www.whiskyadvocate.com/top20/
It’s so fucking good. It’s probably easier for you to get your taste for it back with something like FTB being it a higher proof than most Japanese whiskey l.
It seems like they’re excluding harder to get bottles from that list (or is it all new releases?). I’ve never been as impressed with Larceny BP as much of this thread is. Have only had one of the scotches but of those 10 I think Rare Breed Rye is the best.
literally in the first paragraph: Therefore, in addition to quality (based on score), our selection also prioritizes value (based on price) and availability.
Ok for whatever price it’s at, I’d rather have Old Ezra 7 than Larceny BP. And Gregg shits on both. There I said it!
There’s always some really surprising ones. If anyone likes anything on this list and want any in the near future, go buy it now. Usually the three weeks after this gets announced they all fly off the shelf. I know people hate scotch talk on here, but #3 BenRiachs Smoky 12 is amazing. They just relaunched their overall lineup and all 4 (Original 10, Smoky 10, The Twelve, and Smoky 12) are all amazing. Tasted a lot of bourbon drinkers and scotch heads and across the board they like them.
In any case, if scarcity is taken out of play I think Weller Single Barrel is the best new release this year.
