We flipped Ade from Western Michigan. Western. Freaking. Michigan. Our DL is deep. I trust this staff in finding and developing DL talent before they are needed.
seriously, not concerned at all about recruiting at any position Dline is going to be just fine as long as Elston sticks around. Even the German showed me something already and he's about as raw as any prospect I've ever seen. Elston is clearly going for length with everyone being 6'4 and up on the Dline this year and I fully believe he's going to get the most out of them
also, it's clear that these guys at the end are guys the staff wants vs guys they need so they must really like them to offer this late and please ignore the rankings for the 2021 class because it's quite clear they are pretty off. Too many kids didn't play SR seasons, no camps, no all star games. Just very little Still believe Buchner is a 5* if he had gotten to play his SR season but we didn't. It's just one example of what is happening right now and how crazy this class is
Thats more or less my thought. Other than the OU kid, they aren't trying to poach elite guys, just guys they see something in. They could easily close this class down other than the 3-4 out there but they are trying to build depth, so they are either trying to catch lightning in a bottle with guys to develop, or know they could struggle a bit, but they could still easily fill out the class with good talent next year.
I have all 22 of the UNC vs ND game. Been watching today. Talking DL I really like Rylie Mills. He's gonna be a very good player for ND. I'm not too worried about DL recurring. Elston does a great job developing and the whole always seems better than the parts anyways. I love we keep getting players with a lot of vowels. We have a mini Polynesian pipeline going and almost all of them end up being very productive
former NFL scout posted this on the Irish Illustrated board Spoiler I had a conversation with the Scouting Director of an NFC team this morning and he gave me his views of some of the ND prospects for the 2021 Draft. We did not touch on all the prospects but this is what he said about the following... Book - Has really come on this year. Will surely get drafted (probably Day 3). He said Ian's intangibles are off the charts and if he was taller and had more arm strength he would be a premium round pick. His decision making and leadership are excellent. The guy he compared him to coming out of college is Chase Daniel who has had a very long and successful career as an NFL backup. Eichenberg - Really likes the way he has played this year. Can run and pass block and is well coached. Sees him as a mid to late first round pick. Banks - Has the most upside of any ND prospect. Says he's one of the best guards in the country. Added that ND is trying hard to keep him but he is a probable first round pick. Kraemer - Has physical limitations but has improved since last year. Like all the ND linemen he is well coached. Sees him as a free agent unless he tests really well. Hainsey - Having his best year but he is undersized. May be too small to move inside to guard and lacks the bulk teams really want at tackle. Should get drafted on Day 3 but sees him only as a backup. Tremble - Has had a great year. Has really improved as a blocker. If he comes out he will most likely be a Day 2 selection. He's what teams are looking for as a move TE. Very athletic, has route quickness, catches the ball well and excellent as a blocker on the move. Owusu-Karamoah - Is ND's best defensive prospect. WHat teams want as an off the ball linebacker because he has very good instincts, can run and is very good in coverage. Could be a 1. Hayes - This is the last guy he talked about. He's having a good year but has limitations as far as what he can do at the next level. Not big enough to play inside and lacks the explosiveness/speed teams want outside. the 3-4 clubs will want to see is he can play on his feet. May go late but more of a free agent right now.
Banks is great but can't really imagine he goes in the first round. Also, Tremble's limitations catching the football have been on display this year. He dropped that easy screen catch against UNC that would have been a decent gainer and didn't come up with that 50/50 ball in tight coverage later in the game. I'd be surprised if he's higher than a 4th/5th if he goes early, but think he can make a lot of money coming back and improving catching the ball next year (assuming we have a good grad transfer coming in).
I think tremble should come back given his dropsies lately if he gets some assurances by kelly that he will be used in the passing game. It would also greatly facilitate the life of whoever will be the QB next year. Those 2 TEs, Lenzy, Davis and Austin(if he will ever be who he is supposed to be) combined with those running backs would make a nice set of players
Greg Gabriel isn't the authority he once was (I'm just joking, but didn't he used to post on one of the ND boards?)
seems like one of those things you see a lot with football analysts. Its one of my favorite things about both Kelly 2.0 and Payton, they both like guys challenging their beliefs internally and are smug bastards externally
I think McKinley should go pro, he has played well enough to at least get and UDFA shot, dont think Skoronek has that available to him. So its not clear (afaik) what the scholarship limits will be
Clemson (assuming beats VT) will now have played UNC, VT, Miami, Pitt, UVA, and now ND. (Florida St played Duke and GT prior to that) So for the 8th year in a row, Clemson or FSU will have played every coastal division member and now ND in the ACCCG. Random factoid that I'm sure will brought up about 10 times during the broadcast.
Pretty much where I'm at with our guys. I also don't see Banks coming back unless he gets a bad grade - Which I doubt.
There is zero reason to subject ourselves to any game while Clemson is chilling at home. We're still going to end up with the most "data points" or anyone,
True. But also I don't want any excuses for leaving us out. And i want to make a point of taking their souls.
I get your point but they want is us in. The tv draw is massive. We have to royally fuck up to get left out at this point imo.
In the weirdest news of the year something is going on with Blake fisher - took down all his Nd stuff and posting stuff about gods plan
No, we had a bunch of injuries and y'all beat us. I respect it, shit happens. Just if we were to beat y'all. It's been a weird year.
hanging tough for 3 quarters with ND now gets you a two spot bump in the rankings, congrats guys you've made it
