Just personal preference. I wish he strung out more on this sound. Just jam the fuck out. Not hating at all. Poor Rambler on Vol 2 please. Even though it almost has that hard grass sound already.
After exhaustive listening to favorite songs on this album: 1. I Don't Mind--i really like the Sunday Valley original but this is the better version. The lyrics are sad as shit and this version conveys that so much better with the background vocals and melancholy fiddle. Just a great arrangement. 2. Breakers Roar: Sierra Hull's harmonies are fantastic. Again, almost a total 180 from the tone of the original. 3. All the Pretty Colors: a nearly forgotten Sunday Valley scorcher, some great pickin on this one! Major kudos to him for not just playing the same songs with bluegrass instruments but completely re-imagining many of the tunes. I was not a big fan of Sound and Fury but this will be in my rotation for a long time.
In love with Time After All and Breakers. Time is one of my all time favorite Sturgill tracks so I'm confident I would like any rendition. The album is fantastic.
I may be alone but love Cuttin Grass’ version of Old King Coal. Seems even more appropriate of a medium for the message.
It’s going to change 35 times but I Wonder is my current favorite tune to listen to while cuttin grass.
All the pretty colors, Breakers Roar, turtles, sometimes wine, time after all, the storm. Shit I guess all of them.
the bluegrass versions of songs from 'a sailors guide to earth', which is not my favorite album, are all fantastic
What a great interview. The bit about him meeting Prine and getting meatloaf together, as well as his Porsche, was awesome
Some sort of country music award show was last night and apparently Prine wasn’t mentioned once. Sturgill angry
i dont mind. it is my fave from the new album atm. really like this understated version compared to sunday valley’s
Damn. I did not think I was the biggest fan on the mainboard anyway lol my top song was make art not friends
I have a tendency to find a playlist/artis/song and just leave it on repeat while at work or in the car. I haven't heard much new stuff of course.
