Let us not forget we are missing our best player on any given night and our dear leader. losing McConnell is compounded with Geo out obviously, literally zero backcourt depth. losing home court advantage is not going to help, but we have been terrible to start the season the last couple years and thus far has been a huge improvement in that regard. Big win last night.
That's fucking embarrassing. They should've called a timeout before that 3rd and 19 play, the defense was completely out of sorts
We would have beaten Monmouth, Syracuse and Temple early in the season when we were less worn down so basically a 6-6 season that should have been 8-4. Chop! Wait nevermind even better we only have 5 losses lmao
Great win, this team has guts and doesn't quit. Maryland on the other hand is super undisciplined and was taking cheap shots left and right. Multiple blindside blocks, multiple chop blocks, multiple headshots, that ankle twist of Vedral... They're scumbags
Rutgers guts out win If there’s a scene that will sum up the sacrifices Rutgers made this season, it comes after home games. Rutgers coach Greg Schiano said there are bike racks placed as barriers to separate the players from their families to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Schiano’s program had a tough week with two deaths of family members and another “that’s going any day now.” So when a Maryland field goal fluttered wide in overtime of Rutgers’ 27-24 win, Schiano’s eyes welled up with tears. Rutgers improved to 3-5 on the season, with Valentino Ambriosio’s 42-yard field goal proving the game winner. “Our kids have done an incredible job eight straight weeks in the Big Ten playing every week and sacrificed so much to be able to play,” Schiano said from the bus on Saturday evening. “We’re not sacrificing to be the Big Ten champs. We’re sacrificing for a chance to be able to go win, to go play in a game. To see them do that. Just makes me really happy that we can win that game.” The turnaround has been one of the most remarkable in the sport this season. Rutgers is averaging 27.4 points per game in its eight league games, one season after averaging 5.7 ppg in league games. Rutgers is allowing a touchdown less on defense, dropping from 39.4 ppg to 32.6 ppg. Schiano credited the collective spirit of the team for enduring. “I was just really happy they were able to win that one for everything they’ve gone through,” he said.
Proud of our lowly team. Ohio State parent Kristina Miller, the mother of sophomore offensive lineman Harry Miller, wrote her own letter to Warren. Miller said she first found out the season was postponed through the media, and there was no communication from the Big Ten office. "There's been no communication, no transparency, nothing to say what has changed in the last five days that we give you your schedule and we cancel the season within five days," she told ESPN. "There's been nothing." Miller suggested that instead of having the entire conference surrender the fall season, individual teams should have the choice to play or not, noting that Ohio State's president-elect, Kristina Johnson, and athletic director Gene Smith were in favor of moving forward with the fall plans. "Similar to players having the opportunity to opt out if they choose, we feel like our teams should have that opportunity," Miller said. "We're at a different level of Rutgers and Maryland. I don't mean that to sound pompous, it's just true. Our guys want to play. They want to play and they should have the opportunity to play if they want. They shouldn't be subjected to this vote, yes or no. Well, if you guys don't want to play, opt out. Opt your team out. Let the six teams that want to play, play." Fuck you you dumb cunt. Spoiler Yeah, that stuck in my craw all season. That and Day is an arrogant asshole who contracted the fucking Coof himself so you tell me whose team is more serious.
From an anonymous survey of recruiting staffers on The Athletic. Chop! What first-year coach has impressed you? COACH SCHOOL VOTES Greg Schiano Rutgers 4 Eliah Drinkwitz Missouri 3 Jeff Hafley Boston College 2 Mel Tucker Michigan State 2 Jimmy Lake Washington 1 Mike Leach Mississippi State 1 Ricky Rahne Old Dominion 1 “Greg Schiano. They got back to the blueprint of recruiting Jersey. They have guys who can come play at some bigger schools in the Big 12 and things like that.” Is there a prospect who isn’t getting enough buzz? ACC-2: “If I am at Alabama or Clemson or one of the big programs, the first person I am calling is Alijah Clark (a cornerback from New Jersey who is committed to Rutgers). He is a four-star prospect, but he is underrated. This kid is good enough to play anywhere.”

Great performance by our guys tonight. A few takeaways... 1) Ron is working himself into a legit NBA draft prospect. Wouldn't surprise me if he is a late 1st round pick when all is said and done. He's morphed into our best player 2) Geo was probably playing at 75% tonight but was still clutch AF. Love that dude. 3) Myles had a monster game (10 pts and 16[!] rebounds). He was incredible in the interior on D and was a force on the boards 4) Our free throw shooting is still really bad. I don't see how to fix it at this point, we've had the same problem with this team for years now. This seems to be the only thing Pike can't fix with these guys. 5) Pike has settled on a seven man primary rotation of Geo, Mathis, Ron, JY, Myles, Cliff and Mulcahy. Doucure was the only other guy to get minutes tonight only because both Myles and Ciff got into foul trouble. Seems like he's seen enough of the other freshmen in early games to know he can't play them in big games
Never really felt like it was in doubt. Jacob Young and Harper have both made a huge jump in the offseason.
I think Mag might be able to get some minutes here and there down the stretch as he grows. But I don't see any other freshman as anywhere near ready yet (besides Cliff obviously).
we are big, experienced, and talented. we should beat that maryland team by double digits. pike needs to find a way to get mag a few minutes here and there. he has the most potential out of the freshmen not named cliff.
Our schedule is about to get BRUTAL. 7 of our next 10 games are vs ranked teams, with 3 of those games being vs top 5 opponents... I think the main reason our team is so dangerous is because we don't overly rely on any one particular player. Losing Geo last year and this year for a few weeks has made Pike change his rotations and let guys build up their confidence in both themselves and the system. If a team like Illinois lost Ayo or Iowa lost Garza, they'd probably be a shell of themselves. Pike has really done an amazing job building this program.
