Yea Z contract is ate by LTIR. Fucking give me a hell of a lot more than a 1st and 3rd to take Johnson. Adding Z to mix does nothing really
I'm not sure TB could realistically offer anything I'd want to take on Johnson. We finally have an end in site dumping bad contracts
Does trading Zetterburg's deal cost us cap space? Or would it just help TB more by doing it that way?
I dont see how it helps us, if we have cap room we don't get relief but we don't need it because we have cap room. But if we don't have cap room his contract is ate up by LTIR. Only helps us if we have someone else to go on LTIR. Dont see any way that it actually helps us. And can we please stop these Johnson to Detroit rumors. I think its just nothing more than lazy journalism tbh. Tampa needs to dump cap, Wings have space and Yzerman used to work there so there must be a deal there. No, hopefully Yzerman is too smart to bail them out by taking on that awful contract. Late round 1sts to me don't mean much. Get back to me when the offer is much more significant
We have no idea what the offer is. I think the board is in agreement that it needs to be 1st +. We have plenty of room to take on Johnsons contract this year. We have no one else to sign. A ton comes off the books after this year with only Hronek and Bertuzzi currently on the team needing deals. Nielsen comes off the following year. We still have tons of flexibility with Johnson.
People keep floating around 1st or 1st plus 3rd. Sorry not even in the ballpark for me. And just because you have cap flexibility doesn't mean you use it on awful contacts. You can get a lot more help for the team with that money in last few years of his deal, when I expect this team to be competing
Okay what would you want for Johnson? 2 1sts, 3 2nds, and 3 3rds would give us a lot of flexibility around draft time (on top of what we will probably get at the deadline this year)
I'd want minimum 1st, 2nd and 3rd (can be over multiple seasons, like a '22 2nd rd pick) or a 1st and one of their top prospects. Thought being we eventually have to dump that 2nd on Seattle to get them to take Johnson but you risk him continuing a down ward trend and that won't do it. TB may not do that, and if they don't, fine. They can figure another way out of cap hell and we don't have to worry about that contract.
Or work Nielsen into the deal going the other way and let them buy him out. A deal of killorn, Johnson and some picks for Nielsen with an immediate Nielsen buyout saves them $6 mil this year and helps them even more after. Doesn't help us year 3 and 4 but at least gets one bad contract off our books and Killorn I view a little differently than Johnson.
The cap not going up and uncertainty surrounding it, you also have to remember there will likely be other desperate teams in next couple seasons so we could probably get a 1st or more taking on less awful contracts if we waited it out
Now after 16 games. He's fucking good. I don't think he will ever be a big PP asset but you can pencil him in for 22+ minutes per game for the next ten years. He is a dominant 5x5 player. I am always going to compare him to Trevor Zegras in that draft. I still think I would take Zegras but it's closer now. CF% - 62.2% (leads the entire league) CF% Relative - 9.6% Goals For/60 (5v5) - 3.43 Goals Against/60 (5v5) - 1.72 Goal For % (5v5) - 66.7% Oh and 12 points to boot
Brome and Rasmussen have been released from their loans so they can make it back for camp. I didn’t anticipate Ras coming back tbh.
So my current guess at the opening night lineup Bertuzzi - Larkin - Mantha Fabbri - Namestnikov - Ryan Rasmussen - Gagner - Zadina Fil- Helm - Glendening Nielsen/Svech DeKeyser - Hronek Merrill - Stetcher Nemeth - Staal Lindstrom Bernier Greiss Taxi Squad Pickard Cholowski Biega Pearson G. Smith Hirose Erne
Like I've stated before, I have a hard time seeing AHL having a season unless the NHL/big clubs heavily subsidize it because those teams/markets need the gate and all that comes with it to function.
If there is an AHL season I could see Rasmussen starting there. If not I'd prefer he play over some of these other guys. It'll be interesting to see what they do at forward. Also hope Zadina gets top 6 minutes and isn't on a line with like Filp and Erne or something
#9 Albert Johansson - 2D - 2nd 2019 #16 Theodor Niederbach - 1C - 2nd 2020 #18 Lucas Raymond - 1RW - 1st 2020 #25 Elmer Soderblom - Bottom 6 F (6’7”) - 6th 2019
Niederbach must’ve got hurt. Hasn’t played in the 2nd Edit: out there now on PP1 with Raymond and Soderblom
