I was listening while driving but did Bill say Josh Allen is by far the best QB of the 2018 draft? Did Lamar Jackson win MVP last year?
As high as Lamar's stock was last year, people are really down on him long-term after seeing him try to throw from the pocket this year without a dominant running attack. As much as Bill may be wrong, I imagine most people would agree with him.
Does SI still exist in any meaningful way? I had a subscription from like 2001 up until they went bankrupt/sold/whatever last year
yeah the guy in charge of the Maven (SI publisher) resigned earlier this year: James Heckman. He was a total piece of shit apparently. No idea if the new guy is better respected.
No individual shout out to Bill. I wonder if Bill has gotten far enough removed from the day to day that he’s just an executive ahole to most people outside his inner circle.
i promise you don’t have to run to the defense of millionaire podcasters every time. you get absolutely nothing out of the act and they truly don’t care
fairly sure simmons would 100% be more weirded out by grundy constantly defending him than ZPZ calling him a racist or a hack
What act? I like Bill and Ryen. I’ve never understood this take from some of you. Who cares how much money they make. Good for them. I just thought it was a shitty comment insinuating they would talk like that.
You know what’s not normal to me? People hating them but listening to their podcasts and most of their content. I bet I listen to less of Bill’s podcasts than most on here who cry and bitch about him. If I don’t like someone I tune them out. Your behavior is weird to me.
i appreciate the hate listeners. i have never listened to a single episode and am grateful for the updates
I’m now hankering for a 95 minute podcast of Galdwell and Bill arguing the merits of spurious articles they half remember reading over the course of the pandemic and what it means for Jamaicans and the good people of Greater Boston. Send up the bat signal.
I can't remember a single Gladwell thing I've ever read where i didn't make the jack off hand motion in response to it, so his defense of Toobin is appropriate.
no drive-by "Country Strong rewatchables was good" post by Grundle shows how rough of a choice that movie was
did gladwell lose his mind after entering the world of the powerful and wealthy or was he always insane
Not defending Bill, but if you listen to Bill and think he is the type to drop hard Rs casually in a chat....thats a viewpoint that I dont think is really based in reality. Ryen? Yeah...in his early 20s, that probably happened.
hard to picture a guy who grew up going to elite whitebread prep schools in Connecticut could ever drop hard R's
I dont think he was defending Toobin's actions, but the journalist process. That initial article was very vague and didn't really mention what he did but concluded that he was a pervert. Which I think is fair to question if it was done the right way. Now, it later came out exactly what he did and it was disgusting and not defensible. So I think his comment could be out of context. If he was defending his actions or im wrong and the proper details were there to conclude exactly what he did, ill go take a lap.
Haha yeah I totally passed. Disappointed that was the choice. It’s the podcast I look forward to the most each week.
I'm certain I saw the trailer for this movie at least 20 times when it came out and I have no memory of it. It doesn't actually exist for all I know.
Jacko and Ryen both think people in poverty just need to “work harder” and that “they have every opportunity to succeed” and definitely think a minority president solved race relations in perpetuity.
I'm borderline stunned this bit of the Sal-Simmons pod from Sunday wasn't mentioned Simmons: I have the Dolphins by 4 over the Pats Sal: OK good I have Miami by 3.5 and it's 3 Simmons: oh ok that line's dumb Bill being like "wow I was off by one point clearly Vegas is wrong" is hilarious to me
I think he was saying it’s dumb because Sal came closer. It was a dig at his friend/himself, not Vegas. Compare that to the Colts line where he didn’t even call the right favorite. If you guys really wanna drum up some good hate-bank material against him, pay attention to the Subway ad reads. He pronounces “onions” as “ung-yungs” and struggles to even spit out that mangled verbal abortion.
I’m a Houston homer and will admit it but it’s a little frustrating to hear bill now say we people need to recognize what the harden rockets accomplished when he was essentially the guy saying they were loser failures for five years. That was his deal.
