Allied WWI propaganda showing what would become of America if the Central Powers won. Some fantastic names here.
I approve of Denverburg because it would only improve our already awesome beer situation and better access to German food which is oddly expensive here
Japonica sounds dope Japan's crime rate, lifestyle, and health/longevity in a west coast setting? Hell yea.
the most commonly studied language made sense but the second most commonly studied was interesting...
Chinese seems like it could be very beneficial to learn but fuck it because not only is it a new language, it's an entirely different alphabet.
I guess “Chinese” was easier to put on the chart than “Modern standard Mandarin, simplified Chínese characters, and Hanyu pinyin”
Is that like listing English as one language? there are some pretty different dialects in different parts of this country. Not to mention England or any of their commonwealths
Not really. People who speak Cantonese can’t understand spoken Mandarin and vice versa. The symbols are the same/similar if they both use traditional symbols, if I understand correctly. (My son has been taking Mandarin in school for a few years and I just asked him, so tifwiw .)
Used to live in HK and this is correct. Cantonese and Mandarin are completely different when spoken. There are other “Chinese” languages, too (Shanghainese is another). HK and Taiwan use traditional characters. Most of the Mainland uses simplified.
Population of 929 and 17 democratic votes. One of six dry counties in Texas. That place must be fucking miserable.
Dinosaurs were around for nearly 200 million years, and we’re still 100 million years closer to the last dinosaurs than they were to the first. And this is all in a small sliver of the earth’s history, which is still young in relation to the rest of the universe.
