Wife talked me into getting the $500 box today as a "Christmas present". Had to go to shop to get supplies to start listing a bunch of stuff to get some of these cards out of my house and make some money back. It was nerve wracking opening it, most I've ever spent on a box. we each opened 2 packs and split the 5th. I opened absolute shit and thought we blew $500. I pulled autos of Nick Loftin base and Soularie /499. A combined maybe $30 value. I look over and my wife pulled a Trei Cruz sparkle /71 auto (going to my PC), and a blue Kaden Polcovich auto. But more importantly she also pulled a green refractor non auto /99 of Kjerstad ($70-80 on ebay now) and a gold /50 chrome Zac Veen (last sold $177). Let her open the last pack and it has a sparkle refractor Masyn Winn and a black auto in it, unfortunately it was Jack Boyle. She also pulled our only Torkelson chrome in the box. In my two packs I lost huge, but her 3 packs brought some value back, probably close to $400 worth of cards in her hits. Hit a few good refractors in the box. But didn't get my value back i don't believe
I kind of hid buying a few packs at first but now she gets mad if I buy packs and open without her. Only caveat being is she won't open football now. She opened a pack that had a Vick card in it and she threw it on the ground and said she is done with football
Possibly interested in slowly buying cards, can you get decent card packs anywhere or only in specialty shops?
Also most prices drop after release, Torkelson auto prices going up and its annoying. First couple sold around $400. Only one ending in next day is already at $504 with 9 hours left
What sport? Depends on where you live, unfortunately most good products barely hit retail shelves because people buy them to resell
Yea im not buying yet. Think Tork will be too good to be a $3 card, but wouldn't shock me if its a $300 card by years end and in $200s at some point
Never heard of him, had to look it up. Didn't realize he was first overall pick. You might have to wait more than a couple years to get one at $3. In the meantime there's plenty of Matt Anderson's to be had on the cheap.
Very bad Luckily pitchers cards aren't as expensive as hitters and I bought his before market blew up, so I paid less than $150 for a psa 10 version of his auto card
one sold on 12/18 for $81 https://www.ebay.com/itm/2020-Footb...409747?hash=item2d1f2a8993:g:98YAAOSw0Z1f1BBk prob worth more now that he's starting and playing well.
I see one for sale for 300 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jalen-Hurt...90&algv=DiscV2&_trksid=p2332490.c100172.m2966
I bet you could get $100 for it. It’s a rookie patch auto but lots of people are going to see it’s a rookies and stars and think it’s cheaper. Now if it was a Prizm or Mosaic you could probably get 3-5 times that.
Just got started back into it this past year and I’ve never sent anything in to grade. Pulled both of these in the last couple weeks and since they’re gonna make a movie about him, I figured I’d gamble on Randy. Give me your opinions on if they’re clean enough to make it worth it. And PSA or BGS?
Send to PSA. BGS would probably be easier to get a 9.5 but PSA brings the real value. Plus I’m pretty sure both of those cards grade well I’m pretty sure. PM me if you need someone to submit it to. I have a few bulk submitters I have used in the past
Both look solid to me, I have that bottom card too in thinking of sending in. Hard to tell for sure from a picture but no obvious flaw I can see
Really need to look at sold listing to see what they actually go for. A lot of people have either an inflated view of what their card is worth or hoping a sucker will buy it at the price, but will take best offers of significantly less money. Most accurate way to get a feel of what its worth is to see what it sells for at auction listings
Yea timing is everything, either want to list as soon as product comes out so your first on market or list when the player does something in a game to capitalize on the buzz
I’d have to go Topps Chrome, i agree NBA has a higher resell but not the draft picks, majority of people want the NBA teams not their college teams on the cards. And with other NBA products going to come out the draft picks is going to go down in price.
yeah, the fact that they're all scavenged at the retail spots has probably saved me from buying a bunch. But i still like the idea of picking up rookies.
I totally agree with you, but almost all the time people are disagreeing with me. I’m curious as to why you believe it’s going to pop and when that could be?
People will eventually get tired of the scam card companies are running, it's beyond saturated and getting worse each year. We have the 90's happening all over again. All they've done is taken 1990 Topps production numbers and split it up into 60 different releases, then within those releases they've split it up further by coloring each card different and slapping serial numbers on them trying to disguise how many cards they are pumping out. Seriously, go to cardboardconnections and look at the 2019 baseball releases, I stopped counting at 100. Hopefully this post makes sense, I'm pretty lit right now. Card companies are too greedy, they killed patch/relics by releasing way too many of them and now they're doing the same with autographs. They just can't help themselves. Trout signs something like 5,000 autographs or more each year for Topps products. This will continue for the rest of his career and likely long into retirement. There's just nothing scarce about it, no matter the /# behind it. And that's another thing that bothers me, the way they hide how many are really signed for that product by doing their /250, /225, /200, /175, /150, /125, /100, /75, /50, /25, /20, /10, /5, /1 tiered bullshit. Ok, I've ranted enough.
You are absolutely correct. Its why I would rather go collect 90s items, or players that are retired like Romo and Witten. Sure I won't ever have that super rare 500k card, but I didn't get into the hobby for that. I'd rather have 1100 chipper Jones cards (all different)
I want to collect like that(via opening myself, not buying singles) but IMO market doesn’t allow that, at least not right now. You almost have to be in it for re-selling in order to afford anything half decent.
I completely agree, and why I have backed off for now. If I pick up something. It will be a Greg Maddux rookie or something low key that appeals to me. Damn paying the prices they are posting now
Got in a 19 Bowman Chrome Jumbo group break and hit 4 Andrew Vaughn rookies. One of which was the #d Chrome auto. First time getting in a break in years. Very likely just created a monster of a habit again.
Got in on a case of Bowman Best 2020 today and it was random teams and I snagged both the White Sox and Tigers. Hoping to hit a Luis Robert Auto or Torkelson Auto. I’ve quit buying retail as I just can justify those prices. I like collect but I also am trying to flip the prospects right now cause I don’t think they will ever be this high again.
Topps Chrome, easy Never, ever buy any Panini Draft products unless you want to get shit on. The resale is absolute shit once all the rest of the products drop.
Throw it up in ebay auction with the quickness. If you're a fan and like the card then keep it but now is a good time to sell it and if you truly want it back, buy one in the offseason.
