We used to have a pig from a litter that we had to save because the mom flipped out and killed the rest. That thing was awesome. We had a bunch of dogs at the same time, so the pig grew up thinking it was a dog. Got killed chasing a car with the other mutts.
Yeah, pretty smart animals too. Used to date a girl who refused to eat pork just for the reason you mentioned. I wasn’t changing my wash, but I respected it because they are cute
My wife doesn’t eat pork because she has watched too much discovery health and thinks that every pig eaten is swarming with brain parasites regardless of how well you cook it. Spoiler She does still eat bacon and ham though
I don’t eat beef or pork because I can’t handle watching them get slaughtered. Doesn’t seem right to partake in it if I’m not cool with how the literal sausage gets made. I don’t judge those that do - it’s my personal hang up.
I'm not sure anyone gets a more terrible life than the chickens - there were cities in Mississippi that would smell for what felt like 50 miles from the ridiculous chicken coop setups. They basically live in a mosh pit. It was like driving through Sulfur, LA.
I do eat poultry. While their treatment is no better (and still utterly abhorrent), I don’t think they have the cognitive abilities of pigs and cows. I also choose humane options when given the chance. I am trying to move to pescatarian.
I respect that position completely, but I’m curious how you draw the line with fowl. Is it the actual process being different or the animal? Edit: I see this was answered.
It’s not a great answer. It’s certainly not morally consistent. For whatever reason, seeing cows and pigs get slaughtered bums me out hardcore. I suppose my position may be better clarified as this - the mistreatment of any animals (birds included) is totally fucked and bothers me. However, humanely slaughtering birds doesn’t bother me. Even the humane slaughterhouses for pigs and cows stay with me.
as fucked up as it sounds I try not think about it and that’s how I am able to eat meat. I sometimes “hate” that I do. It reminds me of a discussion we had on here around the time the virus’ origins were first being discussed and the a video from a Wuhan market was posted. Some where outraged at the treatment of certain animals we call pets here. My position was we treat other animals we don’t call pets just as bad. I’d rather just not think about it because if I did I’d have to go back to being vegetarian if not all out vegan.
I’ve been doing it for most the year. It’s pretty easy with meat alternatives today. Beyond burgers are actually fantastic and pass the taste test to anyone I give them to. Only try to eat seafood when I eat out though. also, easily lost like 20 lbs cutting meat out and my run times have dropped getting animal fat out of my blood
Beyond and Impossible burgers are great. I don’t miss regular burgers at all. I do miss a great steak, though. And I really love spicy sausages, but alas.
Beyond has Italian sausages that are good too. Not the spicy you’re probably looking for but not a bad option
Chicken is also the more “sustainable” of meat out of the 3. Most chicken meat is from a 8 week old chicken. Beef and pork takes years and an absurd amount of greenhouse gasses
I rather enjoy all the different types of meat. I've been privy to how each meet their demise and for me taste >>>>> thought of their slaughter. I do ttfts. If someone prefers alternative sources that's cool.
looking forward to humans mastering the lab grown variety. No energy wasted on growing bones and suffering animals, All the flavor none of the guilt!
buckwild - they make a 40,000+ version. Two of them are Disney themed and one was a Brazil theme. We always have puzzles going at the station, guys just work on them here and there. I’ve become a Ravensburger snob. I mean, it’s the trusted name in puzzles, everyone knows this.
I have 9 Nike puzzles, 6 are 325 pieces and 3 are 1,225 pieces. Not looking forward to them at all. Wpuld gladly ship them to yall if you want something to put together lol.
