Of course one of the idiots I grew up in Bama with is instantly on the "must have been an attack" wagon.
Well shit maybe he was right. Seems like a stupid time/place to attack though doesn't it? No one out at that time and all the businesses empty.
Ya, I don’t know what is meant by intentional act at this point (besides the rv was meant to burn or blow up), but doing something like this on Xmas morning was never going to accomplish anything but some property damage. Glad everyone is okay
I’m thinking we just wait for things to play out. I’m sure there is plenty of video footage of 2nd Avenue. I mean the RV blew up right by the old spaghetti factory.
From another message board Stunned. Good friends own the building on 2nd and their windows on first avenue (the river side) blew out. First they heard gunshots then a 15 minute countdown timer coming from an RV and ran out in their pajamas. Insane. Yes, parked directly in front of their window at 166 2nd avenue north. Apparently the RV had some sort of intercom. The were gunshots around 4:30 and again at 5:45 Heard the exact details from one of my best friends who owns The Stage & 2nd Fiddle. The message first said that people had "limited time" to evacuate and that played for like 20 minutes and then it changed to the "15 minute" warning.
I've seen a few people saying the gunshot thing, are the police confirming that? Like what would they be shooting at?
I find the gunshots theory very weird. Maybe it's my ignorance, but who would be shooting in downtown Nashville at damn near 6am on Christmas morning.
I'm an early person but I'm not sure if that warning message would have gotten my attention. That loud bang however, definetly woke me up several miles away. No telling how many lives the annoucment possibly saved, and can't imagine being an officer going door to door knowing you have a bomb ready to detonate at any minute.
“From one of my clients on Broadway... This is Kim’s Story. “We are safe. A bomb exploded in front of our building early this morning. First we heard gunfire, extremely loud, three different times. That got us up. When we looked out of our window, we saw a large RV parked across the street. The RV was broadcasting a message that it contained a bomb and that we had limited time to evacuate. That went on for 20 minutes or so and then the message changed to a countdown. It said we had 15 minutes to evacuate that the bomb was going to be detonated. We grabbed our cat and not much else and made our way to the car and across the river to LP Field. Had we stayed in our apartment, we would have been seriously injured or killed. But, we are safe in a hotel now. Not sure when we will be able to return to our apartment. Thanks to so many of you for reaching out to us this morning. We have the clothes on our backs and we are safe. We feel blessed”
Metro doesn't want to talk about the gunshots, but people keep mentioning the gunshots along with the warning message on the RV. Maybe Metro PD got in a gunfight with the suspect(s) as they were leaving the scene?
Channel 2 is saying the gunshots could have been a lure to get police attention to the RV. The more you try to make sense of any of this, the crazier it gets. Nashville 2020.
My gut says insurance fraud...whoever did this did everything in their power to warn police officers and get all people away from the explosion. 2nd Ave has probably been hit super hard by COVID and never gets the limelight like broadway. It seems gunshots and "suspicious vehicle" warnings were doing everything to get police officers to be headed towards the area to deal with the fallout.
The amount of effort and risk required to blow up an RV isn’t worth it for insurance fraud. You can’t learn how to build that big of a bomb on short notice.
I said it in the other thread, but this being some attack on that AT&T building seems, i can’t believe I’m saying this, somewhat plausible
Didn't the article say the building that took the brunt of the blast had some kind of ATT transmission equipment? They were obviously to wreck some kind of havoc on ATT. We still don't have service and neither do my friends in Bama that have them.
He hit actual AT&T infrastructure in that red building he was parked beside. I just don’t know what else on that street he’s be targeting.
The story above your post about Kim that lived in the building said the gunfire woke her up. All this before the warnings and countdown started. Obviously speculation, but it seems that would indicate the gunfire was nothing more than an area-wide alarm clock. Even on Christmas morning there's plenty of people that sleep in. Definitely strange in these situations. None of us are use to seeing well thought out safety measures ahead of an attack.
I don’t think he was talking insurance fraud on the rv but rather the business next to where it was parked.
Yeah, I was referring to the business/building. Your comment still applies though...lots of effort required. If they own the building/business, the insurance windfall would be probably somewhere between 5-20 million and potentially higher if they owned a couple lots.
I think the nutjob attacking ATT (maybe they used to work for them) is more likely but everything about this is just so odd.
Where you live or work? We still don't really have cell service. Been able to send and receive maybe like 5 texts, haven't been able to make a call since it happened.
Live in Murfreesboro. Work in the William Snodgrass (Tennessee) Tower. I should clarify my earlier post; I was talking about my office building.
What are your guys thoughts on Catbird Seat? They are offering reservations at $145/person. Does that include any drinks or is that on top of the $145?
I’ve never been, but I think drinks are on top of that. The people that I know that have gone have all raved about it.
If you’re trying to get diabetes ya But seriously they are one of the better breweries in the country for the styles the produce but I’m a lager boi
I had a great experience with Payne Chevrolet in Springfield, TN and would highly recommend to anyone in the market for a car. I contacted 20 dealers in Middle TN and was actively negotiating with about 5 dealers, but they were very responsive and gave the best discounts. Of the few I visited, they had the best COVID protocols (All employees had masks + plastic barriers between you and their desks.) Carl Black and Walker Chevy(Franklin) had very few employees wearing masks and no plastic barriers. I was uncomfortable.
She received her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on 12/20 and she only felt sluggish and not 100% 1-2 days after, but she wasnt sure if it was the vaccine or the 7 shifts in 9 days pre Christmas work schedule. 2nd dose is on 1/10.
