I’m not sure. I politely declined their invite for food during their quarantine. Definitely gonna bring that up and make it a possibility to see if I can convince her it was. Or tell her it was Sturgill Simpson fighting back against pop country.
So we're having a great Christmas - not going to the wife's side this year due to a Covid exposure there and we've got my side out of the way already. We're on the way to my 80-something year-old grandmother's house to drop off her gifts and see her for a few minutes on the front porch. When we're about 3/4 the way there, my son (a few days from being 18-months old) decides to projectile vomit the entire contents of his stomach onto the back of the passenger seat and on himself. Now my vehicle smells like vomit. And then in the middle of the night (get this!) this little demon decides to run a 103+ degree temperature and keeps crying while I'm trying to sleep, dammit!
Just overheard my father in law who is a terrible cook decided to make guacamole, and I overhear the statement, “just a pinch of salt, four tablespoons,” I’ll probably be passing on the guac tonight.
How long can you sit and have a conversation, like just as an activity. No drinking or tv or anything. And the people are someone else’s relatives and always correcting each other’s stories and bickering. I’m struggling to not go in the other room but I know that makes me antisocial
One thing I always like to do is take a really technical thing I think is really cool and gab at length about it. I'm aware that it also makes me seem like a know-it-all nerd and a bit self-centered, but around the right company people really appreciate it.
Do you try to have these conversations with he same people right after someone else just gabbed at length about he same subject?
We had a dog when I was growing up that knew which rules he was allowed to break around which family members and it was cool as hell
wife wanted to stay for a 3rd night. I took 2/3 kids home and will be enjoying a solo evening at my own house, which again, is 12 minutes away.
I am too stupid to quote the « 2/3 kids home and will enjoy a solo night » in the without context thread
I know lots of doctors that have been complete dumbasses about covid. I think that's one of the biggest head scratchers. If a trained doctor isn't going to take it seriously then some dumbass redneck sure as shit isn't.
After days of negotiations, it was agreed upon by all parties the in laws will be visiting for New Years (Wed-Fri). Two items of note: 1) Anonymous sources say that my FIL is not happy about this visit and wanted to stay home. 2) My wife said she will divorce me if I greet my MIL with “Your hair looks great, Nana. How was your Christmas?” like I plan to do. Stay tuned.
OFFICIAL TMB TUTORIAL by Taques OFFICIAL BOARD RULES by GFA 1. Don't be a bitch. The first rule of mainboard is, don't be a jackass. This is a free and open board. People are going to call you a cocksucker. That's allowed. Don't come crying to a mod if you feel like someone is being "mean." If you can't handle that, grow some thicker skin or get the fuck out.
My dad: don't eat that small bowl of chips, Whiskey, you don't want to get fat again like you were 10 years ago. Also my dad: the turkey, ham, roast beef, cinnamon rolls, stuffing, potatoes, mince pies, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, sweet potatoes casserole, and chocolate cake leftovers we have just won't do for dinner tonight, let's plan to Door Dash cheeseburgers.
Stayed in FIL’s house 3 nights. Close contact, sharing meals, etc. Wouldn’t shake hands at goodbye; did elbow bump. Ok...
My wife's sister's kids will watch YouTube videos on their phone with the volume all the way up and no headphones. I told my wife she had to say something about it before I murdered someone
We got my father in law a carhart jacket for Christmas. He opens it up and goes , “oh a Garrett jacket, these are nice!”
Haven’t seen my parents in nearly two years. Never really been any political talk. Now the amount of Fox/trump/republican/China virus stuff they say is pissing me off. These are normal, ordinary people, too. I’ve had to walk out of the room a few times. Sucks.
So nothing too interesting but Mrs Bump Nasties BIL’s dad is an ass hole. Just one of those dudes that thinks his shit doesn’t stink. He’s a big Trumper and has backwards ways of think of things. Anyway my FIL and him currently aren’t talking over something arbitrary like paying for dinner. My FIL thinks it’s a huge slap in the face when you won’t let him pay. Anyway I’ve always that the dude was an ass hole and just told the Mrs. After the Mrs finds out about the disagreement. She decides to just air it out..well Bump always thought he was a jack ass. At Christmas dinner in front of ass holes son hahaha. She said she wasn’t thinking when she did it...no shit Now inevitably when they bury this it will be awkward for someone. I told her I was glad she said it because maybe the dude will just not talk to me anymore. Somehow this will be my fault one day. Or these two stubborn old fucks will go to their graves never speaking again.
Guy tells his wife shit that's happening between two old men. She brings it up with his name at dinner now he hopes one of the old men won't talk to him anymore?
Yea, but it's like he said his FIL and his bil's father are all different people in the same house or some shit, and I got lost
So you have holidays where your in-laws/in-laws attend. That seems very odd and especially during a pandemic.
So we get there and are sitting around waiting for her dad and sister to finish getting ready to go to church and her mom starts in about how they were around someone who tested covid positive Monday at a gender reveal party she then goes on to tell us she was only near the lady for a minute (which I’m not convinced but whatever) and was going to get a test on Tues or Wednesday whenever they found out but the only place they could find was a 72 hour testing place. She didn’t go because she knew they wouldn’t get the results back before Christmas and she’s always around everyone else in the family anyway... except for me and the wife who live 2 hours away. The thing that reminded me to come update this post is the fact that I’m sitting at the ER with my wife who’s waiting on her covid test because she couldn’t really taste anything today. So pissed at them right now. Also Christmas Eve we were sitting around playing board games and in laws had the back door and a window open. When we kept asking why, it was “for air circulation” even though it was 40° outside. The next morning after more pressing, they read online that cracking a window would reduce the spread of covid indoors by up to 80%.
Mr. Nasty, I read this like 64 times this morning. Picture this, it’s 530 AM and I’ve nestled in with my coffee. Can you please clear this up. The BIL in question is your wife’s sister’s husband?
