Dry January: Sober Curious

I'm not doing dry January but doing pretty dry next 10 days as I'm going to my sister's in Florida and hopefully not catch/spread covid. I've been quite a mess this month.

Will do a half marathon in February so dry January is a go.

I am joking though, it’s a good thing to cut down or stop drinking and I applaud you guys for doing it.

Staying dry for a month sounds awful, I’m out ! I will commit to once a week dry night in January 2021

 

this is how I spin this in my head, over a complete year I easily do not drink for at least 31 days. So I do my dry month but I extent it over a year.

 

I can easily not drink for 31 days in a year, mostly mondays

I regularly do sober 3-4 weeks when I'm at sea so I like to think that my 5 or so months a year of being 100% sober counteracts probably drinking too often when I'm home. Probably not but yolo.

 

i don’t know how you guys do it, I would go absolutely nuts after 3 weeks. I would probably finally make an appearance on tv but not for the good reasons.

Going to give it a go this year. We did like 10 days leading up to Thanksgiving, felt good and it’s been debauchery ever since. Will be starting on the 4th.

 

The second half of 2020 has likely done a number on my liver and definitely on my wallet/waistline

This, I'm spending way too much money on weird bourbons. When I drink I end up hitting up uber eats or the chips- gonna try and make it a dry first quarter until after we move into the new house

 

How about you start with a dry 12 hours and then go from there.

Feeling nice and not hungover this morning

 

I did no booze for the week after Christmas and then got crunk on NYE. Felt like hell for most of yesterday.

Day 1 of dry January done.

 

I got good and drunk NYE so I’d be extra motivated to give it a rest. Drank all the big IPAs I had

 

My NYE day/night drinking:

2x 16oz 8% IPA
2x 375ml 13.9% BA Stout
2x 12oz Hibernation Ale
A bottle of Heidsieck sparkling rose
8-12 oz of bourbon

I drank at least a gallon of liquid yesterday to attempt recovery. I’m still sweating it all out and carrying around an extra 10lbs of water weight.
