mid anyone is willing to pay 100+ for wsr let me know and I will get and ship as much as you want at that price. Won’t even charge tax
i know they are common but i never make whiskey sours. just made one and it was the best cocktail i’ve made in long time. 3/4 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice, 2oz michters small batch whiskey, 1/2oz simple syrup. shake for 30 sec without ice. then add ice and shake to well chilled. strained over ice block. added orange bitters as garnish
It is a distinguishable profile but not as bad as dickle. I think the rye cuts it some and at $23 it’s a good mixer
Got a Russell’s reserve single barrel from the mother in law. Always wanted to try it but my store stopped stocking it. Really nice
Had all of the following at a buddy’s house yesterday: Michters toasted barrel OF SiB BP Redwood Empire Pipe Dream KC 12 year Smoke Wagon Uncut and Unfiltered George Remus store pick
- The old forester blew me away. Dark cherry city with a warm caramel sweetness. - KC wasn’t overly complex on the nose initially but had a great flavor on the tongue as a 12 year should. Much better as it opened up a bit - Toasted barrel didn’t leave me too impressed. Was the first one I had. - Pipe dream was just opened that day. Great bourbon for as young as it is. Lighter fruits and floral character from what I remember George Remus store pick was really solid. Only had a small pour as I was headed out the door though
I got a Blantons display piece and need an ‘O’ cork if anyone has an extra. I can spell them out but don’t want to use a gold topper if I don’t have to.
Anyone tried the Jack Daniels SB Barrel Proof Rye? https://thebourbonculture.com/whisk...arrel-proof-single-barrel-rye-whiskey-review/
Called the state store this morning the minute they opened. They told me the truck just got there and to call back in 2 hours. Called back 2 hours later to find out they had gotten OF 150 yr anniversary and it sold out in 3 minutes.
Also RJF-GUMP i made this whiskey sour tonight and it was fantastic. Probably will be my go to if not drinking neat.
looks good. I saw where one recipe called for orange juice. I put orange bitters in mine the other day and thought it was a nice touch.
Current topic has reminded me why I still haven’t tried the 1920 when I love the 1910. I bought the bottled in bond today and looking forward to comparing it.
Am a fan of 1910. Have a bottle of 1920 i did not love but need to revisit. Have seen some posts of people mixing to make 1915 which I might give a shot at some point.
Glad to hear it's decent. Bought it for a friend for xmas. Heard OF'10 was solid choice for $50-60 range. Plus they were out of Russell's Reserve & any nicer Elijah Craig.
I tried the Lagavulin 16 last night. As you fine gentlemen suggested, it was not in fact anything like the Balvenie 14 I’d had previously and enjoyed. Islay scotch is definitely a unique flavor.
Pretty good day for me... Never really score anything amazing like you guys but got a store pick 4 roses and a handle of Weller Reserve. Both for $42
liked what I’ve had from High West lately. Decided to dabble in some of their ryes. Picked up a Double Rye for $30 and Rendezvous Rye for $55.
having just overspent on an OWA, I can tell you, it’s probably not worth that much. Unless you’re trying to collect them all or something. It’s a $50 bottle max, imo. Maybe $60.
