tony jones is actually playing for the saints now, only took the entire rb room, including the coach, to be on the covid list
Bill Rees isn't exactly shitting the bed in his role. If there's an area I'd like to see more progress, it's more Alabama-like use of analysts.
It’s innovative for vandy. We have plenty of guys who have cut their teeth already in the scouting department
Three years ago we had Claypool, Boykin, Kmet, and Dexter but no qb to make it work. I disagree that it is the SAME discussion other than there always a fatal flaw of some kind. Who knows, maybe 5th year Book combined with that group is good enough but probably not.
to be fair, simmons is nashville based, knows a lot of guy in the areas where vandy must recruit well. I think its not a terrible move and certainly a move that will create some press
The problem when we do it is it’s purely nepotism based, not actually looking to forge a new path. It’s as if Kelly looks at what Bama is doing every year, sees them create a new role, gets pissed he needs to hire someone to a similar role, and then opens his existing phone book to offer an old friend said role.
I don’t have a ton of faith but I am hopeful the next step beyond keeping up with the facility arms race is to increase the analyst budget
Extremely interested to see who he brings in as his OC. I have a feeling it will be an ex-HC who is very innovative offensively.
Which is good to hear. One thing Bama's done well is using those roles as a bit of an "on deck" circle to stash potential replacements whe coordinators move on to HC roles, etc.
I mean with Ian Book ND goes 12-0 in the regular season again and then gets left out of the playoff at #5 lol
Playing at ND is the biggest thing some of these kids will ever experience. What good does it do for Book to go undrafted or late round just to be buried on a practice squad...at best. Or be talked about for the next year on a National level. It’s good for the Ian Book brand. Unless he’s pushed out I don’t know why he wouldn’t come back.
Book? I mean clearly he's heard he isn't gonna get drafted but still. There simply is things he can't do. Unless Rees/Kelly have promised to open it up a bit more
Rutherford is in the portal. Kind of disappointing as I had high hopes for him, but seems like he’s been passed by Lewis and Hart.
Rutherford has entered transfer portal. Not surprised with all corners coming in and him getting passed up by Clearence Lewis and Hart
Book gives us a pretty high floor - albeit with a limited ceiling. We win 10+ next year if he comes back, and it will be good for Buchner. Just god awful for my blood pressure.
