Guy is voting against democracy, but if people wanna yell at him they are the ones who are wrong this country deserves itself
That's incredibly obtuse. Maybe that's not the best response to treason =/= blame them instead of the traitor.
I’m not naive or hopeful enough to believe in such fairy tales because I know deep down John Roberts is a dyed in the wool Republican. However, wouldn’t it just be so fucking great if as a result of all these conservative whack jobs constantly attacking and threatening him he decided to take a left turn out of spite and then sit up there and fuck their world up any time a conservative issue comes before the SCOTUS for the rest of his lifetime appointment?
This assumes that his supporters and/or he himself would act any differently absent people protesting there. I’m not sure I buy that.
Yeah, I think that the result of this particular event is going to be negligible in either direction.
Turns out all it took to completely break a representative democracy was a fat dullard narcissist and a couple of enablers. pretty shaky foundation after all

(AP) — Pennsylvania lawmakers returned to the Capitol on Tuesday to be sworn in for the two-year legislative term, facing a still-raging pandemic and a dispute over seating a Democratic senator, with Republicans holding large majorities in both chambers. The Senate quickly dissolved into chaos. Democrats in the Senate began protesting — in some cases, shouting — after the Republican majority refused to seat Sen. Jim Brewster of Allegheny County, a Democrat whose election was certified by the state but is being contested by his Republican challenger, Nicole Ziccarelli. Republicans then voted on a motion to remove Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, a Democrat, as the presiding officer, after Fetterman insisted that Brewster be seated with the other senators. They then voted through another motion to recognize the election in every Senate contest, except for Brewster’s. Spoiler Republicans have not said how long they will take to review Ziccarelli’s election challenge before voting on it, or how long the GOP majority is willing to leave the seat vacant. The open seat does not affect the balance of power in the Senate, where Republicans hold 28 of 50 seats. The state House begins the session with 113 Republican seats and 90 Democratic, although one of those GOP districts is vacant because of the death on Saturday of Westmoreland County Rep. Mike Reese. Each chamber’s operating rules will also be considered, and House Democrats want mask wearing to be mandatory during floor sessions and committee meetings. Republican draft rules did not address the mask issue, which could be taken up by a bipartisan group of House leaders that manages chamber operations. The House is expected to elect Lancaster County Republican Rep. Bryan Cutler as speaker, and the Senate is poised to make Centre County Republican Sen. Jake Corman its presiding officer, president pro tempore. Along with a pandemic-driven, multibillion-dollar budget gap, legislators this year will also have to figure out how to redraw congressional district lines based on new census results that are expected to cut one member of Congress from Pennsylvania’s 18-member delegation. Later this year, the four caucus leaders will also begin redrawing General Assembly lines with participation from a fifth member they can select. If they remain deadlocked on the fifth member, as is likely, the Democratic-majority state Supreme Court will chose the tie-breaking member for them. (© Copyright 2020 The Associated Press. If people can take one thing from this, and I know I do this a lot, but understand that minorities have had the feeling that representative democracy isn't a working vehicle since day one.
To be fair, it was an educated black man becoming president that actually broke our representative democracy.
It doesnt have to be, if states allowed election officials to count early and mail in voting as it came in.
Didn’t it take most states weeks to certify ? Even ones who started counting early? If the race is as close as it appears, makes sense it will drag out days.
But then how could we fearmonger 40 million people into believing the election was stolen huh? Riddle me that!
All states take weeks to certify. It’s a set date. The reason it took Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania ect a week to count the votes was because they don’t allow mail in voting to be counted until after the in person voting is counted the day of the election because ...
