If you have a competent program that’s putting kids in the NFL as well as competing for the playoff my guess is you can do very well in the portal

We've lost maybe ~2 players who would be mild contributors next year (Ovie, Houston) and have already received our (probably) starting QB, with a lot more positives/contributors probably still to come.

So I'd save a lot of the "UGH, COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY!!" takes until all the dust settles.

Yall have a pretty easy schedule every year.

    Why y’all are 0-7 in NY6, BCs/Playoff and outscore by 144 points.

    1. Coaching
    2. I’d be willing to bet ND is the underdog in all of those games. Bowl ties and special rules I think puts ND in unfavorable games.
2b. The teams they played were elite and unbelievably stacked and would probably be no different if it was another team.

So you’re saying y’all were put in games you had no reason to play in? Maybe due to an easy schedule? Not playing in a conference? Media always hoping this is ND of old and not the one that gets skullfucked in bowl games?

Y’all do typically have a good defense.

I do wish the ACC experiment was permanent. Getting y’all in a conference would go a long way to not just throw y’all into a higher tier bowl because ND just to watch y’all lose. Not fun.

But if I’m not mistaken conference ties don’t work based on the many cross conference rivalries established over the years.

Yes the old BCS was written to heavily favor ND. That is not the case in the playoff era, in fact its extremely difficult for ND to make a NY6 game now, hence last year where a 10-2 ND team got left out despite being ranked in the top 10.

Sidenote ND's schedules are never easy, that's a weird myth. ND always plays 10 P5 teams and travels coast to coast to do it

Entering the ACC would only intensify the points you’ve made above. Our schedule would get worse. Our bowl ties would get better. We’d be in a NY6 bowl way more often coming in 2nd to Clemson (or even 3rd, if the ACC somehow gets two Playoff teams again).

What you’re vouching for literally goes against what you’re complaining about.

I will also be having a salad. I gained 10lbs in November and December so it was time for a change up. Dry January survived yesterday so keeping it going, been really cutting down on sugar and carbs. So far its been surprisingly easy

My goal for age 33 is to get back down my high school weight, I was 215 as a senior in 2006. I weigh 229 today. Last year I got my weight down to 217 in July but then started to eat poorly again, motivated to get there this year

Same here. Dropped 30 since September then put 10 back on during the holiday. Down 5 again already but I have 20 more to lose by April. Want to lose 50 by 50. Did not think I was going to make it though the last two days without drinking but I did it.

latest on the DC search from Loy

    Here's the latest.

As we've reported, Cincinnati defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman had a Zoom call with Notre Dame on Monday. That clearly went well, because less than 24 hours later he was in South Bend for an interview with Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and others. On Wednesday, Freeman made his way to LSU and will interview for that position on Thursday. The feeling is strong that he'll leave with a job offer from both schools and it will be up to him to decide to leave for either school or return to his post with the Bearcats. For what it's worth, I'm told everyone has been extremely impressed with Freeman and he would be a perfect fit at Notre Dame. It also doesn't hurt the Irish here that his longtime close friend, Mick Mickens, is currently leading the group at cornerback for Notre Dame. Others involved here include Texas, but new head coach Steve Sarkisian is very focused on the National Championship with Alabama so it'll be difficult to interview Freeman in a timely fashion, and Michigan as well.

Irish Illustrated also informed its VIP subscribers that Mississippi State defensive coordinator Zach Arnett is being considered for this role at Notre Dame as well. The Fighting Irish have expressed some interest and made it clear that, similar to Freeman, a Zoom call and potential on-campus interview could take place. However, it seems clear that Notre Dame is going to allow Freeman to say yes or no before they move on to another candidate. Arnett looks to be next in line, unless he simply says, "Thanks, but no thanks."

    10COMMENTS
Other names we've been told to monitor include North Carolina defensive coordinator Jay Bateman and Kentucky defensive coordinator Brad White. Both are intriguing candidates and would be very good hires for the Fighting Irish. They come highly-recommended and there is a strong belief both would have great success at Notre Dame. However, as of this moment, we're told neither have had any contact with Notre Dame at this time, much less than Freeman and even less than Arnett. There seems to be a clear pecking order with this group, so we'll see where Notre Dame decides to go from here. But right now, all eyes are on 247Sports' Defensive Coordinator of the Year, Marcus Freeman.

That should get everyone caught up to where things stand as of today, but there will be some quick movement in the near future, as Freeman will look to make a final decision here rather quickly and not drag this on much longer. At that point, if he happens to head elsewhere, look for Notre Dame to bring to town its next best candidate.
