Well boys, wasn't expecting to be posting in here but HERE WE ARE! Just found out the wife is carrying around our first, which makes me want to drink even more, but solidarity and shit. Pray for me.
Started day after Christmas so day 11 for me. I did 10 days in the beginning of September and that was a record for me so new record!
Day Two here, agree 100%. Slept so good last night. I am sure there is science behind this, but the other piece that helps is in when I wake up in the middle of the night, I can easily fall back asleep. When I drink, doesnt matter if it's a glass or two of wine, 12 pack or hard liquor, if I wake up around 3AM to piss, there is about a 90% chance I am awake for the day. If I am not drinking, I can sleep solid through to 5-6AM regardless of piss break.
Started on the 1st. Never realized how much I enjoyed pouring a beer while making dinner. Otherwise holding up.
Hi all... I'm also doing this with the exception of the National Championship game. That'll be the sole island of drinking. Also no weed or adderall. So... drinking lots of coffee during the day and decaf tea at night.
I get what y'all are saying but this world's gonna be fucked up whether you drink or not. Don't use it as an excuse. (Unless you just want to drink, then go ahead)
In the last 24 hrs I got a bottle of Blantons, Weller, and a store pick single barrel of Jefferson’s Reserve in the mail. Really messing with my sobriety the spirits are
Going to attempt a moist January. Started on Monday. Going to only drink on Friday/Saturday this month. No more booze during the week with one wild card/mulligan weekday. Best of luck to everyone.
A nice steady flow of lightly yellow tinted clear pee is a beautiful thing. I stop imbibing anything after 8pm though or I’ll be getting up every 3 hours at night to piss.
Yeah I cut out all sugar, pasta, rice etc.... I still do coffee, black, 16 ounces. Otherwise water rest of the day. It’s nice.
Day 6 here. Echo what others have said about sleep. Reveals how much I’ve used it as an (ineffective) sleep aid. Sleeping thru the nite and feeling well rested in the am has been nice
I wasn’t sure if I was gonna do some sober time or just cut out beer but I’m gonna go ahead and just stop drinking for a while. I need to drop some weight and need to start working out again. I think no drinking will help that motivation as well as aid in weight loss by itself. Haven’t had anything to drink since Saturday. It’s frankly been a rough week to not drink as we had a pretty serious water leak in my house right before Christmas and we are doing some major renovations as a result. I’m not craving alcohol at all so that’s nice.
I wish the no drinking was helping with my sleep but it’s been the same as when I was having a drink or two. Don’t sleep bad either way but still waking up not feeling more rested. I might be a weird creature, but every time I do this I don’t see weight loss or better sleep. I have reduced my craving for a drink significantly so that’s nice. Mostly just breaking a habit there.
Day 7 done. The 3rd didn’t count for me, had one glass of wine and one beer at a wedding. Been very dry other than that. Losing some lbs is nice.
Oh... well I’m also cutting calories a little bit, at least watching them closely, using an app called Lose It!, which is really helping. And I’ve run 31 miles in the past 7 days. They all go together. Cutting a few drinks per night or whatever I used to drink can cut up to 450-600 calories a day, so yeah it makes a big difference.
7 days in and only 1 day drinking in the last 14 days Down 10lbs (262 to 252) with probably half of that being water weight The goal is to get to 240 and then maybe 225
This is weird but I find myself getting thirstier. Always assumed alcohol dehydrates you, but I guess you get some kind of water out of all that beer. Guess I need to sit on the couch with a glass of water while I watch tv
I've never really noticed the difference in sleep before unless I get hammered. Obviously I'm not gonna feel refreshed after that but having a few drinks and catching a mild buzz helps me fall asleep and I feel fine the next day.
Still good but today was the toughest so far. Went to grab the vodka bottle and thankfully my wife called me out. Great woman.
