I saw Legent in my store for the first time and laughed because of this thread. Almost bought a bottle for a buddy just to see his reaction.
I was hunting one time and in a big store and a guy next to me was doing the same. We just chatting it up, shooting the shit and he goes "you know what is really great, especially for the price?? You need to try this legent." I legit burst out laughing and tried to explain and I think the guy just thought I was an asshole.
Haven’t tried myself yet but a buddy who has lots of really good ryes said the JD Rye is worth the hype. Says it may be his favorite he has out of that, willet, pikesville, rr rye, rare breed rye, michters rye, and michters 10 rye.
Everyone's tastes are different so feel free to tell me I'm wrong. 1- 2018 MWND 2- 2018 Michters BP Rye 3- Wilderness Trail store pick rye 4- Angels Envy white label rye (so long ago may not be that good just the novelty of the rum casks at the time I loved) 5-whatever 2016 Michters BP Rye/THH/JD Bp Rye/ MWND/rare breed rye/BH dark rye, 2x2 rye etc I will admit I'm not the most experienced rye drinker but I find myself loving those minty/floral notes
looking over a list of bourbon cocktails and mint julep was #2 on the list, now I'm thinking about making some later.
Another similar cocktail I was just looking at but I don't think I've ever had is a whiskey smash https://www.thespruceeats.com/whiskey-smash-cocktail-761400
Kentucky spirit sounds more like what he wants if he wants to spend $50, but I’d take RR everyday at $32
whiskey smash: muddled mint and lemon, then added simple syrup and basil hayden, shake with ice, strain over crushed ice
So that JD BP rye is going for $150 on the Atlanta secondary. Guess I’ll buy at $100 and flip for a 50% profit
Earn_Marks apparently Whitlock’s got two different barrels of that Whistle Pig and they moved it at $75 per? Kinda feel like I HAVE to get the Cobra Rye...
Meant to go snag the 46 CS and a couple BT store picks today. Left with 6 BT store picks at 1L a piece, a 46 CS, two eagle rates, and a Nikka Coffee Grain since I’ve heard a lot about the Nikka on here.
NYGator sent me the Nikka SFTB, it was fantastic. Sad that was my introduction to Japanese whiskey. Feels like it only goes down from there.
I see Nikka Coffey at my store all the time. Is that worth grabbing? I figured it's not one of the sought after Nikkas since it's always just chillin there.
It’s good. The pure malt and Hibiki Harmony are also good as they’re just as readily available on shelves
