It’s ridiculous that they’d been releasing one or two stouts each week. I wish they bottled the stouts in 375ml bottles. A 750ml bottle of a 16% abv stout is just nuts.
Honestly wish more breweries would do this but I guess it’s just like a bottle of wine. Share with friends come to think of it...could you cork a stout and it still be good the next day?
I have with a lot of bottles and have not had any problems that I can recall, specially high abv stuff.
Do you do curbside to get your Monkish or order it through the mail? Living within 25 minutes of Monkish now is pretty bad for my wallet
I’ve only bought stuff a few times recently and done both the curbside and delivery. I get a bunch of Casa releases and those are guaranteed as a member.
Was pretty happy - I told the biggest beer snob I know to check out Casa a couple months ago. I thought he just ignored me, but he texted me the other day that he got seconds after he ordered a first Casa batch after I told him Monkish, Highland Park, and Casa have been dropping so much fire lately
How easy is it for you to grab some bottle logic stouts? Would love a shipment if we can work something out.
Depends what you're looking for. I don't trade a ton so Kinghorn817 may be able to help you out more as I know he does.
My local place did a decade-ish vertical a couple years ago. I tried a few since they eventually started damn near giving it away (like $8-10 for a crowler). It was great for the money.
Going to be close to their facility on Monday, looking forward to stopping in a Binny's and seeing what Chicago treats I can find.
Binnys on a Monday? You won't find any Hop Butcher. They release on Thursday and are sold out by dinner time. They also don't have a brewery/brewpub
Damn that sucks. I knew they didn't have a taproom, but was hoping they'd have some regulars that might be sitting on the shelf. :( Oh well ill just hope to find some things I can't get otherwise.
Yeah, Hop Butcher releases 1 beer a week for 52 weeks. If you like a beer, you have to wait until next year to get it again. Check out Maplewood, Phase Three Brewing, and Alarmist. All of those are really solid Chicago breweries. Kinghorn817 might have more suggestions.
Where are you gonna be at in Chicago? I’d still check out the Binnys you were gonna go to. There’s a slim chance they have some left. I’m sure they’ll have Phase 3 at least. Like he said, HB doesn’t have a tap room, distro only and you can find their beers on tap at bars/beer shops around Chicagoland. Also, Phase 3, More, and Mikerphone are very good solid breweries.
Hit up Orange & Brew Bottle Shop, they’ll have some good stuff there. Probably some HB. Also, you’re pretty close to the More Brewing tap room in Villa Park, you should give that a shot.
Orange and Brew closed on Mondays and won't be open before I'm gone Tuesday:( Will see if I can get to More tho
Well that’s a bitch. I was also gonna suggest Beer and Now but they’re closed on Monday as well. The Beer Cellar in Glen Ellyn will be open but not sure what options they’ll have left on a Monday.
If you're driving up, The Open Bottle in TInley Park is right off of 80 and might have a few unique selections. It's about 30 minutes south of WIllowbrook. You can order online and drive up to get it. They'll just put it in your trunk. https://theopenbottle.com/ Otherwise Binny's has a shit load of local beer and is a great place to grab stuff.
Oh shit, The Open Bottle still has a Hop Butcher in stock. Mosaic Hopped DIPA https://theopenbottle.com/product/hop-butcher-lord-octopus-4pk/
I’ll be in here tonight. Have no idea if these quality for the thread but my eldest daughter’s ex brought me a 12 pack (stone variety pack) so here I am. First one
Round 3. Tiki escape IPA with two homemade burritos. Go ahead make fun of me, I can’t roll with shit. Hopefully they’ll taste better than they look.
