A source very close to Bo Davis has confirmed that David is returning to Texas to coach the defensive line on Steve Sarkisian's staff. Davis coached defensive tackles at Texas from 2011-13. He has been with the Detroit Lions since 2018.
As a Bama fan, we would take Bo Davis, Tosh, and Derrick Ansley back in a hot minute. I’m not sure even Golding could fuck up with that assistant lineup. All great recruiters who can pitch recruits on putting a ton of kids in the league. One thing Owsley didn’t mention about Golding is that he’s not fiery on the sideline, very cerebral. Not all Bams would agree with me but IMO we’ve gotten so soft on D since he’s been here. Used to have that alpha / attacking mentality that we don’t presently have. Some guys wave it off the “modern offenses,” but I that’s a clear problem
Yep. ND and VaTech threw off Venables a bit by huddling, but Day took it to the next level by huddling plus rushing to the LOS and snapping immediately. The Clemson front 7 was out of sorts all night.
He was pretty good at Kentucky and Bama, no clue if it was the overall pile of shit in those tenn football offices that caused him to suck there or what
That was what VT did in it's first half. The part OSU was doing was acting like they were waiting to get the play in when they weren't. That was the part that really caught them off guard. And seemed dumb as fuck that Venables wouldn't have had base plays to put defense in based on formation.
sir I’m not sure if you’ve watched a falcons game the last few years but boy do I have a surprise for you
Quinn is reportedly going to stay in the NFL anyway so either Arnett or Golding or it’s just completely under wraps
Sark pulls his first big recruit on the first day on the job https://247sports.com/player/armani-winfield-46056649/
I'd never read this specifically...but now I understand why our teams played so evenly in Atlanta this year. You've got yourselves a Grantham(with more talent).
It was all encapsulated for me in one 5 minute span last night. We had a couple of hits on Fields, and he is clearly hurting and struggling. Next series, we come out rushing 3 and playing coverage, and quickly give up a TD. He's SO passive.
i mean you guys played pretty well on d last night and won a national championship he did his job well i’d say
was it sung this season? i followed the story a bit last summer but didn't pay attention during the season.
Had to have been part of the agreement in taking the job that he immediately puts out a statement on it
Oh without a doubt, Del Conte made him take a firm stand on this topic because the old money wants it done. I just wonder if Texas is going to pay $40M to fire the band if they refuse to play it?
Wonder how many candidates they talked to before they found one that was so eager to throw all their black players under the bus.
Not gonna lie, didn’t really know anything about the song or controversy, so just looked at the lyrics...is there reason to believe it originated from the concept of Lost Cause outside of what Campbell and Williams said? I saw the song was written well after the Civil War, though that doesn’t really mean anything...the lyrics are vague, but definitely could be interpreted as sketchy given the source of the phrasing.
the two students who created the lyrics strictly just wanted a school song to match other schools. it was a tuba player and yearbook writer. the tune is from “ive been working on the railroad” so people try and tie them in together.
i personally don’t care at all if anyone sings the song, and my opinion does not matter at all. just don’t think the song has this big racial backstory that some try to allude to.
wasn't it written around turn of the century? that was basically the prime creation period for Lost Cause mythology
Well, that and its origin in a black-faced minstrel show I get where the players are coming from tbh.
i get where they are coming from as well, like i said i have no problem with it being removed. i just dont think there is racial intent in the song
maybe don't have a song where the key phrase is borrowed from Robert E Lee post civil war and explicitly is telling people to uphold southern traditions, again, literally single digit years post war who a student loved so much he took it for Texas itself the idea there aren't racial caste undercurrents to it, which is common for cultures to share publicly, is something I'd be curious to hear arguments for why it doesn't lets say beyond the students who were indoctrinated to this phrase maybe didn't understand that undercurrent when they wrote the lyrics, but is very literally the reason these phrases are repeated
