of course we are buying guys, its just that after the first two 5 stars sign on we gotta go shop at the discount aisle for the rest of the class
obviously I’m not Tyrique so don’t get mad at me but word is Kirby recruited him as a CB which he’s wanted to play the whole time and thought he was going to start out as an outside corner but Kirby had him add weight to play the Star and never gave him chance to play outside again. Add to that it sounds like there’s major friction with him and Kirby and he’s not the only one on the team that feels this way. Kirby got wind of him wanting out and let him play outside for the bowl game but his mind was made up by then. He’s got a lot of friends at UM, he’s actually boys with LT and wanting to come home and play has been on his mind since he got to Athens.
The Kirby stuff and playing outside is horse shit. He was behind Campbell, Stokes and then Daniel. He was already all but passed by Ringo too. He played corner in the bowl because we didn’t have anyone else. Tyrique was moved to star to get him on the field quicker. After watching him play star all season, most of us wanted to move him to S full time fwiw So I guess this is best for everyone at the end of the day.
it would have been nearly impossible for him to avoid growing/adding weight but no doubt Kirby recruited him with promise of playing on boundary and he never did (because he is not good enough there against the best teams).
With as mismanaged as this sounds, sounds like Kirby thought he heard “quarterback room” when he was being told “cornerback room.”
he’s 205 now and he and his local trainer think he can get to 190 pretty easily. his trainer is the brother of a guy on our recruiting staff and also the one who trains Leonard Taylor and a lot of south Dade kids and who I assume is the source of all our inside info the last few cycles. I’m sure he’ll be fine here covering kids from Pitt and Duke and if he’s smart he’ll fake an injury and miss week 1 vs Bama
At least we now have a DB coach that will have our corners turning around for the ball when it's in the air
So what's up with the NCAA and immediate eligibility for non-grad transfers? Are they going to no vote this week and just fuck everyone over? Kick it down the road and eventually allow them? I keep seeing conflicting information
hopefully they make a decision that results in several schools saying "pfft fuck you guys we doin it anyway"
Let's look at the past two coaches and see what they did with Transfer QB... 2010 - Cam Newton - Natty 2013 - Nick Marshall - Should have been a Natty 2017 - Fat ass fucking contract for Gus We tryin' to win a natty
If we are being honest, this might be a good sign that your new head coach recognizes how shitty Bo Nix is
Well it's better than all the various message boards outside TMB that believe a true freshman ranked around 225 is going to come and and win the job. Some ppl believe promises were made to his Daddy. Who the fuck knows. Gus was also probably the worse QB developer ever to come to Auburn. Imma give Nix a season under a coach who doesn't suck dick before making any definitive statements. We definitely need a back up plan. It's not like there isn't evidence of QBs getting better through their college careers. Can he stop throwing off his back foot and trying to bail out of a clean pocket every chance? He's shown he can be accurate when he doesn't do these things. IDK if that if fixable. We'll see what Master Bobo & Hars can do.
Bobo will probably do a lot for his mechanics but him having zero pocket presence probably takes time/impossible when you don't trust anyone blocking for you.
If it’s contested, not really. He’s fast and that’s about it. But he had some good moments. Makes sense he wants to play with King.
Ehh we don’t have anybody to catch contested balls anyways Had like four wide open drops in the bowl game that each would have probably won us the game
