Legolas taking down the Mûmakil followed by “That still only counts as one”, still one of my most memorable in-theater moments
I see this thread bumped and I always get excited thinking there will be news of the show and then I open it up and get sad. Do you guys think the rumor is true that the show will be during the second age and that there will be some of Morgoth as well?
It always bugs me when I see Gimli tell Legolas "Let him go, lad" in Helm's Deep. I mean, he's got to have heard at some point in his 139 years that elves are really fucking old, right? Doesn't he realize that Legolas might look young but is 2800 fucking years older than he is? It also pisses me off when in the FOTR intro voice-over Galadriel says "Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it." She's a fucking elf, one of many who were born before the end of the Second Age. Okay, if some ignorant human had said it, fine, they could be forgiven, but she's literally one who lived then who remembers it now.
Still can't get over the battle of helms deep was supposed to be against 10,000 orcs but they make it seem more like a million in the movie.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/19/entertainment/ian-holm-death-scli-intl-gbr/index.html [T]he ship went out into the High Sea and passed on into the West, until at last on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.
Bought the Hobbit trilogy and received the LOTR trilogy from Santa, so I'm rewatching the entire series again. Extended Editions, now remastered in 4K. I'm watching chronologically and quickly finished the Hobbit over the Christmas break. I've now finished FOTR, and TT is in the player, but I haven't started. Spoiler Nearly shed a tear during the Moria scene (had to look this up "Chamber of Mazarbul") when the fellowship reads Balin's account from that hall.
The original novels WAS the second age of Sauron. In the first age, he was just Morgoth’s lieutenant. The ages as a timescale were not based on Sauron.
For the hollywood people, the director of Eps 1 & 2 is JA Bayona, responsible for or work in these projects.
Made my kids watch over winter break. They enjoyed it. Tears when Gandalf fell. Fist pumps when he returned.
Nothing will ever top watching that first one on shrooms and weed when I was like 21 years old. Fuck i am getting old. still will be watching
I am irrationally excited about this and hope they go full on nerd with as many elves and dwarves and weird shit as possible
Besides showrunners and writers I'm wondering where this money went, because it's not for on-screen talent. The director is not commanding huge sums either, imo. I'm guessing special effects will be very good.
Yep, Second Age. I can imagine the finale being the lead up to the Last Alliance and the March on Mount Doom. Elendil and Gil-galad kicking orc ass
i would not want to play you at real life dungeon and dragons...well I would not want to play anyone but you understand the compliment
