Vendors literally sell terrible towels outside of the stadium anytime the Steelers come to Jax. And they sell a shit ton of them.
Can someone explain the whole duval thing to me? I’ve never heard of a city or sports team take so much pride in the county they’re in
Pretty sure it’s a south thing. Dade, Cobb, Duval...all get “county rep”. In all of those cases, the city is the entire county, so they’re synonymous.
I wonder if he'll try to make it more of a college atmosphere. Pump money into the facilities, is it to try to get guys to spend more time there? I think the practice/training facility should be top notch, but I wonder how much extra-curricular he'll try to install.
It'd be an interesting breakdown comparing NFL facilities to the top college programs. The Bucs for example didn't get an indoor practice field until a few years ago which is nuts since it's pretty much guaranteed to rain every day in the mid to late afternoon during training camp.
You'd think at minimum a lot of the college weight rooms might shit on the NFL ones, since so many NFL guys just work out with their own trainers in the off-season.
I dont know what to expect of this marriage. But I'm not actively rooting against Urbs for the first time so I'm interested to watch what happens.
Jags facilities are pretty nice, I believe, by NFL standards. Big difference between NFL, where the owner is burning his cash on facilities, and college, where donors are willing to drop millions to see their name on a wall and jock sniff.
He's been close with Belichek for years. He needs to take on some of that demeanor or he won't survive a long NFL career.
This is the kind of thing you say when the people you wanted to bring over from OSU already told you no.
