Yep, she couldn't walk correctly unless she ran, I think she was a Redskins cheerleader. Later on she randomly developed a British accent.
They said the same thing when the seatbelt laws were introduced. It worked, despite protest from slugs requesting salt for dinner.
Police can legally enforce that now though, I could imagine my stupid fucking governor saying that police can't enforce a mask mandate legally because of x,y,z. If we're dealing with mask wearing another several years then I will agree with you.
Face the nation guests were talking about the inadequate surveillance system for detecting the virus and variants. I think they should really be calling it a discovery system. Really need to be cognizant of every moron and conspiracy theorist.
So Maryland just expanded the eligible recipients of the vaccine to include teachers when the age requirement is still 75+. Saw my wife’s friend, 33, healthy and had covid last month get the vaccine today. Don’t understand that decision by Maryland.
There was a good discussion in here the other day about risk of infection vs risk of mortality. Teachers are at a high risk of infection I’d imagine and getting schools back to normal is extremely important so makes sense.
70 year olds don't have a high risk of exposure if they are taking the proper precautions (most don't have jobs, many can stay home, not old enough yet to require in home care/assisted living. we still don't have enough vaccine for everyone over 65. Not by a long shot. so prioritize elderly who can't distance and choke points for transmission like teachers.
Makes sense, I just know from talking with her her students aren’t even attending in person. Still all online for half the state. Maybe their plan is to vaccinate the teachers so they can reopen fully.
A month later the first case was officially identified in Italy, but it was probably already circulating there when that tweet was sent.
Wife has a junior engineer now quarantining because her husband who works in food production tested positive (she was tested yesterday and is waiting for results). She's been out of the office since before Christmas anyway, already self-quarantining having gone to Mexico to see a grandfather, so she'll just continue working from home In-laws get their first dose Thursday, since they're in the 75+ demographic
Last one of these I'll share but shit this killed me. I haven't watched this video in at least ten years.
I have a feeling this has more to do with Florida’s 65+ population being a lot whiter than the other age groups in the state. The idea that saying anyone 65+ could get it would make vaccines easier to distribute makes the fact that Florida is struggling to get vaccines in arms even more frustrating.
Yeah I doubt there’s too many 65+ African Americans that retire to the villages to be a part of those bi-weekly white power golf cart parades
The entire vaccine game in Florida is about having Twitter, following the right people, and being quick to sign up. If you got grandkids that can do that for you, you win. I did it for my aunt and uncle yesterday. They aren’t tech savvy. Jackson Miami pushed out a link that expired in 30 minutes, and my fake Twitter account pushed out the notification right when I happened to be by my computer. It’s completely rigged to people that have those kind of resources.
Not bitching at all but if the worst soreness I ever had from a flu shot was a 2/10, this vaccine is a solid 8/10 Much better today though
Yeah a long time ago. That was probably a 4/10 and again, if anything it just reminds me how lucky I am to have gotten it. And I’ve had zero side effects other than the arm soreness. My friend that is the COO of the county hospital said the only major side effects they’ve seen were from docs or nurses that previously had a bad case of covid. And even then it was about 24 hours of fluish symptoms and he said about 40% of their staff that previously opted out have signed up to get the vaccine
Well, my first symptoms were last Tues. Tested positive. Overall pretty mild for me, then today out of nowhere my sense of smell vanished. I thought it was one of the first symptoms?
Add Memorial Hospital to your list as well. If you are a patient there you can use your mychart to get an appt. My wife and parents all got through easily and the process at the hospital is top notch.
And Cleveland clinic. Wasn’t sure if he was Miami Dade or Broward. I’m trying to get my grandmother in the villages an appointment and it’s impossible in these rural areas of Florida. Far easier in the metro areas.
My parents are in Jupiter. Got family all over the tricounty so I’m watching them all. I created a fake Twitter (I don’t use Twitter) and followed all the departments of health in the counties I was looking for. Then I searched which hospitals in the counties I wanted offer the vaccine. Then I followed them on Twitter and clicked the notification bell for instant notification on any of the ones that announce via Twitter they’re opening registration. Jackson Health consistently pushes out notifications around 8pm at night and 7am. Appointments ranging from 7am to 11am the following day. If you’re willing to make the hike to North Dade, (closest of the three campuses for you) Jackson is a great resource.
My dad and uncle both were told they could get appointments in Miami and didn’t want to drive. Fucking furious at them but trying for my mom and in laws
Nah it seems to be more common that it happens later. I was down to no symptoms and on day 8 lost smell and taste for about 10 days I’m 5 weeks in and have about 90% of it back
You think that’s dumb? My FIL passed on getting vaccinated because it was Pfizer and not Moderna. He’s worried about trusting that the Pfizer vaccine was handled correctly. Now that I got it he’s grumpy because he had to re-register and now he’s at the back of the line
