Yeah no way. Everyone in my family is thankfully scrambling to try and get any of the vaccines. My MIL gets her first dose this Friday. She’s a teacher. Trying to get my FIL in somewhere because of his age and high risk due to asthma and blood pressure. I know my parents and my grandfather are on the list at their pharmacy but not sure on timeframe. I dream of getting the vaccine.
People in Georgia are lying about being caregivers of 65+ To get the vaccine. Or so they claim on reddit. If you’re willing to travel to Georgia.
I think it’s actually a good thing for our county to be short on doses due to all the people that want to receive it. I have no idea what phase I will fall into but we’re “on the list” for our doctors office and just keep checking county stuff and pharmacy’s.
This pisses me the fuck off something fierce. We've had to have my MIL live with us since September and it's been a huge stress. My wife is her primary caregiver and we cannot find fucking jack for shit when it comes to getting her vaccinated. Thankfully the MIL's PCP had a special deal through Emory Health where they got a bunch of the vaccine so she's set to get her second shot in a couple of weeks, but I'd like for my wife to be able to be protected to since I couldn't be able to easily handle a 74 year old and a 3.5 year old on my own while working full-time.
Where do you live and who have you called? I know a lot of people that have gotten appointments by calling around to various district health departments. Now that was a couple weeks ago and it seems to have gotten harder.
Gwinnett county and we've both called almost every place within a 20 mile radius that's listed on this official site. The biggest issue in Georgia is that most places aren't taking a god damn wait-list and working their way through it so it only makes this more difficult. https://dph.georgia.gov/locations/covid-vaccination-site I agree with you that it's probably gotten a lot worse since Kemp announced anyone 65 and older could get it. I've probably signed her up for a half dozen pharmacies and practices that are actually taking a waitlist. The one possible thing she found was a place that was only vaccinating if they could get a group of fifty or more people. Her mom goes twice a week to a memory care facility during the day and they're having lots of trouble getting their workers vaccinated. It may be a way for every old person there and their primary caregiving family members to all get vaccinated but I'd imagine that will take a lot of time to set up.
You need to call farther out. Gwinnett going to be impossible. My parents live in fayette and drove an hour and got it in Carrolton today. My buddies parents live in Pike and drove to Lamar. Look outside of the metro.
Waitlist are useless for them. They're highly inaccurate when people are mobile to get the first vaccine they can. I'd get outside the metro area where there's vaccine hesitancy more prevelant.
I've tried outside the metro some but to no luck either. Since she has to stay with her mom almost 24/7 it will be a bit more of a challenge to spend half of a day driving to and back from a rural county.
Wait. I thought Moderna was the way to go. I realize they are both considered safe and effective, but did I miss something?
Also it's unclear how strict all the rural counties are about if you need to live there in order to be vaccinated, several websites like the one for Hall seem to indicate you have to live in that region.
Why do you say that? yes, i'd get whatever i can get, but Pfizer has a slightly better adverse event profile, lower dose, etc.
100,000 people in Illinois now fully vaccinated, just under 1% of the population. We’re almost there...
How are the numbers so low? The two times I've gone it's looked like the lines at Ellis Island, and that's in my backwards state...
My dad is 64 and contemplated doing it via this exception b/c his mother is 93. But we told him to hold off to allow for others to get their 2nd shot. But he may circle back in a few weeks and do it if there are still supply surplus in red counties.
If you would have told me one year ago when I started this thread that 400,000 Americans would be dead I would not have believed you
a lot of the truthers weirdly quiet the last few months after posting constantly about the "hysteria" of everyone else many of which didn't even expect it to be this bad!
they’re administering vaccines at williams-brice stadium to only those 70+ but i went down there with my teacher ID and loitered until closing to hopefully score an expiring dose like a goddamn fiend. was not succesful fuck south carolina
could have sent everyone trump branded masks, stimmies signed by him, and sacks of rice with his face on it and waltzed right into re-election in 2020, 24, 28, and 32
does dallasdawg post at all anymore or is he just ignoring all the dumb covid shit he said and pursuing other topics of interest
Moderna or Pfizer? I had my first shot of Moderna On Friday and felt about 90% on Saturday. Not bad, but noticeable
I got first Moderna poke yesterday at 10a. Arm was sore yesterday, and then this morning I felt completely drained and kinda out of it. I normally don't nap, but had to take a 45 minute nap around lunch. Feel fine now.
Seems like people just moved the goal posts and hand waived empathy. A mutual friend and former college athlete was 30 with asthma and died in his sleep. I remember telling someone and their response was like, “Oh... but did he have any issues?” I don’t think it’s normal or ok for a 30 year old to die because they have asthma.
Given that 1 in 13 Americans have asthma... I would be a little upset if they all died from such a manageable condition.
Piecing together these people’s ideas and I’m getting something along the lines of “Why should I have to wear a mask it’s his fault he died because he had asthma”
Pfizer. Took the shot around 930 yesterday morning. Arm pain set in sometime in the afternoon, and peaked early this morning. Then around 7 am ish I started feeling nausea, body aches, and I think a slight fever but I can't find my thermo. I fell asleep til 9 something and woke up feeling okay. Then around 1130ish all those symptoms came back with a vengeance. And then sometime late this afternoon I started feeling better and fell into a deep sleep which I just woke up from because an alarm on my phone kept going off. Will probably go back to sleep shortly, and remain that way for some time. Can't keep my eyes open rn.
Not that I know of. But it's possible. I was sick for 2 or 3 days in a row last month, but I didn't get tested.
Anecdotally it sounds like the strong reactions to the vaccine are from folks who take it within a few months of a recent COVID infection. I think lunchbox is one of them on here
My wife didn't feel great the day after. Took a nap and felt better. Was fine the next day. She has never had covid
