Haven't fostered a dog in forever while we've been dealing with my wife's broken ankle. Getting this little girl on Saturday. 4 y/o choc. lab Not quite the most emaciated one we've ever had, but close.
Quick favor request. This is not important so it's totally no big deal. Sabo obviously had a shitty 2020. He found out he had cancer and had to travel back and forth to the Ohio State Veterinary Center. Then he had to have a portion of his upper jaw removed. Fortunately he is now cancer free and everything is going well. He wants 2021 to get off to a better start and is hoping to be named king of the winter ball at his daycare. The winning male gets to have his picture taken with the winning female, and there are several gals there that he's been crushing on. All you have to do is like this pic: He even wore a bowtie in case he wins. Spoiler Thank you and god bless.
Tosu never climbs anything or plays with the obstacles when we take him to the park, yet he shows off at daycare.
(Raises hand) 8 is on the older side but still doable. You’re basically teaching them a dozen new tricks. Not sure if there’s and adage about tricks and old dogs or not.
Voting ended at 2pm. We did it, everyone. Sabo is the king of the winter ball. I will post the pic of him and his queen once they are available. Thank you for supporting my special boi and his quest for romance.
They are all dogs too wanna hear something neat I found her original post on Instagram from the rescue and looked at the comments and found her brother. The owners and I talked and at some point we are gonna hook up and let the dogs play.
Are those memory foam type fog beds any good? Want to get Groot a new bed (flash was just given one) and was looking at a memory foam one but don’t know much about them.
Our family across every household gets these Orvis ones. Regardless of all the options all the dogs have they all go to these. https://m.orvis.com/category/dog-beds we have memory foam and the pellet fill. The pellet one seems to get more use though.
I didn’t mean just for older dogs, just that they are great for them. They take a lot of pressure off joints.
It’s an ongoing family joke. My wife and daughters like to call him “little baby-man” my daughter made a tik tok with him “saying” I’m just a little baby. Obviously you won’t know any of that lol
Fellas - came for a sober assessment. GF’s 11 year old German Shepherd has been the picture of health literally up until yesterday. Running around, being territorial with other dogs (lol), but her conditions seems to have collapsed in 36 hours. Incontinence, has peed on floor twice and doesn’t seem to be aware. Back right hip is fucked, super ginger - I’m having to carry her down the stairs to go to the bathroom and has to be supported when taking a shit. Seems like overnight to be from totally fine to death’s door (in my nonexpert opinion). Are we looking at cancer here? Maybe she jumped off the couch and screwed up her hip? Going to vet in a few hours but just wanted thoughts
Seems to be a combo of hip dysplasia which is super common in GSDs. And probably some neurological/spine issue as well. They might recommend xrays at the very least.
Spayed female GSD's are prone to incontinence. A hip injury could have made the difference between being able to hop up right before she has to go and not. Get her to the vet to check it out asap, but I bet it's something orthopedic. If it's soft tissue, she'll just need to rest it.
Heading there right now, hoping it's just an orthopedic issue - she's got crazy pet insurance so should be able to do whatever needs to be done
She could have a subluxation in her hip joint. Indicator could be her running around fine, followed up by suddenly becoming lame. Hip dysplasia is mostly present from birth.
Can a vet tell if a little dog is already spayed? Wife rescued a little mini Yorkie and one of the first things the vet said was we will probably want to get her spayed. Estimated age at the time was 2 years old Well it's been over a year and this little dog has never spotted once that we have seen. I already have had some reservations about this vet with my lab and I'm starting to think she just suggests all kinds of stuff to run up the bill
Yes, I believe that happened a lot to Redford, my 11 year old Aussie. Since we put him on CBD oil and Cosequin about 2 years ago it has only happened once, and it was fixed within minutes.
