You're just mentally psyching yourself out. Get it and if you feel like you need something then take it.
Soooo I had my first Moderna shot on the 15th of January. I'm scheduled to get my 2nd shot on February 12th. And....i don't feel good. Not at all. I have a feeling of "malaise" and I'm a little achy. Knowing my luck......
round 1 for me i had some minor chills for like 5 mins and was in a pretty strong mental fog but that was likely due to waking up at 4:30 to drive an hour there, an hour back when it was cancelled, an hour back to try again and then 2.5 hours home plus running around for 5 hours hopefully not having to volunteer again and drive all over creation will make round 2 easier because i had zero energy monday
My mom said she had a little bit of joint pain and the injection site was a little swollen and tender. “I wish I had a stronger reaction so I knew it was working.” Pump the brakes, mom.
The flu shot last year fucked my arm up bad. Swelled up, red and just radiating heat. Hurt like fuck for a few days. 10/10 would do again.
After round 1 shot with pfizer had zero side effects other than arm soreness next day. Would say it was like a 1-10 on the pain scale.
Question: if I indeed have Covid, I should get the 2nd shot as soon as I am over it, correct? (I seriously doubt I have it but you never know)
I can’t reiterate how much I hate the guy that owns this place. He also shared some of the most fucked up opinions on the BLM movement and has unsuccessfully sued the county twice over their mask mandate.
It's amazing how people this fucking stupid are like successful business people. Comes down to just luck.
His father started the businesses and he took over when he died like 10 years ago I don’t know much about the father but he wasn’t a lightning rod for controversy like the son and knew how to just shut the fuck up
He was interviewed and was yelling that 400k people didn’t die and why don’t we shut down for heart attacks, which kill more people?
That hospitalization/death numbers sounds very encouraging. I don’t think anyone is avoiding anything if getting covid comes with a worst case of being sick but not sick enough to go to the hospital.
I want it in my arm. Fun fact, there is a J&J plant in my little town so they may be producing it there.
I'm glad the J&J jab is coming as some may prefer the single shot, and it should be easier to deploy in rural areas where cold storage is lacking. But, given the higher efficacy of the mRNA vaccines, why aren't we subsidizing Moderna & Pfizer to help scale faster and ramp production so those remain the primary shots for most Americans? If I'm going to get a vaccine, I'd much rather get the most effective one. My family and I have hunkered down this long, I can wait a few more months if that's what it takes to get the highest level of protection.
yeah, get what you can as soon as I can. it's short sighted to believe they are that much "better". there are way too many variables and they were never compared head to head.
moderna's research and production was 100% paid for by the federal government, pfizer's production is too. but, these are extremely difficult vaccines to produce. the defense production act can be used for some things but even opening new production facilities would take months. getting new vaccines approved and on line is 100% the avenue to more supply right now. as to efficacy, yes, J&J has offered less efficacy in preventing moderate infection in their trials, but it's also been 100% effective in preventing hospitalization and death, and in American populations 72% against moderate infection is HIGHLY effective as far as vaccines go. if offered J&J this second vs Moderna in a month I would get the J&J.
JNJ may have a slightly lower ability to completely block you from getting covid but unless you live with anti-vax idiots, even if you get it the JNJ essentially turns it into a worst case scenario of flu that doesn’t require hospitalization. Probably less than that. That sounds just fine to me for almost everyone but the most vulnerable.
pperc pnk$krtcrÿnästÿ RonBurgundy Mom is immuno-compromised. Just received 2nd shot. She had no reaction or adverse effects. Her doctor told her “it’s too new to know if it worked or if it didn’t take.” Is that right? Is there no antibody test or immune response that can be tested?
yea you can get an antibody test a couple weeks after the shot to see if it worked. (More than likely it did)
you can get an antibody test, but not just any one off the shelf. it has to test for spike protein responses and some of them don't.
I mean, it's honestly fine even for the vulnerable in almost every situation [probably], and every single bit of immunity we can get in the population is important. nobody should dismiss the highly effective J&J vaccine.
Illinois was 8th in deaths per million like a month ago, they are 14th now and Arkansas is going to overtake us soon. Arizona, Alabama, and Indiana just went screaming past us.
