This AEW main event is fucking amazing. Kenny in there with guys that can go like Pac and Fenix is a stark reminder he’s the best in ring wrestler in the world
I have never liked AEW but that main event was one of the best I’ve seen on all the shows. I love Japanese wrestling I really hope AEW is starting to lean more into this. The women’s tournament is awesome too I look forward to it . I hope one day the stardom wrestlers are able to mix with AEW.
AEW bringing in Sting and running their biggest angle has not moved the needle at all though. Still in the same range they've been in forever. They cannot seem to gain fans. I mean there isn't really a ratings war anymore, it's the same people watching both shows every week and move within the margin of error for the ratings. They have a very specific fan base and those fans are tuning in.
AEW just needs to put on main events like they did last night. Build stars like MJF and build that women’s division. Becky proved last year that women’s wrestling can pull ratings. Smackdowns highest rated segment lately wasnt Roman it was Sasha vs Bayley. Put more work in the women’s division and I think they could get to that million mark.
But Sting has definitely moved ratings....the quarter hours show this. Now, I’d agree that he needs to start moving in a defined direction. But there is no Wednesday night war. AEW is closer to Raw in the key demos than NXT is to them. That war is over. In Covid, AEW has retained their audience. Raw has lost a decent amount of theirs. So, who’s navigating it better?
100% agree. I get that Covid shutting off the joshis hurt, but one segment a show ain’t getting it done. They have enough talent to do better. I hope the new show helps with that.
AEW has done a good job of maintaining their audience considering that since October they have been dealing with cable news election coverage and then the subsequent fallout. Plus now the NBA and NHL are back which is just more live content to contend with. I think the booking hasn’t been great recently but the shows are fun. I also think AEW suffers more than WWE shows from a lack of crowd, and that likely translates to less week to week viewers.

According to Meltzer, New Japan agreed to negotiate with AEW because they didn’t want to strip Moxley of the US title and wanted to continue to work with him. Really speaks to how much everyone regards Moxley. WWE gave him a big send-off. AEW made him their second champ. NJPW, who previously refused to touch AEW now is teaming up purely because they see Mox as that important to them.

She was in an idol group in Japan, got fired because "her face was too big" Was exposed to wrestling in her later days in the group and took to it, incorporated her huge head into the gimmick by treating her dome like a hard-headed samoan Took a while to figure out the in-ring and rarely won but never gave up, which made her more likable Is obsessed with being the cutest wrestler in the world Has now become pretty good in-ring and is letting success go to her huge head English speakers in DDT teach her only swear words which make her really good at twitter
