There is truth to this, but a lot of the top of last years class already had established international profiles predating their draft years. There isn’t much of that in this class.
As far as 2021 goes, right now I would say that my personal top 5 is: 1. Kent Johnson 2. William Eklund 3. Owen Power 4. Matty Beniers 5. Fabian Lysell
Luke is much bigger than the other two, and he’s just as good a skater. He’s just not as offensively gifted.
I’ll say one other thing about 2021: Wallstedt might have the highest upside player in the draft, so if there was ever a draft to take a goalie top 5, it might be this one.
Like I dont get it, he seemed to be getting out of whatever was going on early in the season. Think he's scored 3 his last 4
Yeah, upon further review it's a paper move but I still reverse my right to riot if Blash scratches them while Filp, Nielsen, Helm, Erne, etc. are still playing
The SHL is on a break until the 16th, at which point it sounds like Seider might actually be able to return to his team. Considering how bad the injury first looked, only missing a half dozen or so games would be amazing.
I've reached the point where every time this thread is bumped I'm thinking to myself that Blashill might have gotten fired.
He seems to be shooting his shot, that’s for sure. I’m not sure Yzerman isn’t also complicit at this point, because he would likely have to know when this kind of thing is happening.
Yzerman is definitely complicit at this point, well before the Mantha stuff. The fact that Blashill still has a job at this point is kind of insane to me when you look at how bad his tenure has been. I know we hit bottom from a talent standpoint, but look at that resume. Him getting to year 6 is like Avila doing the same at this point.
I think they determined that it was just easier to not hire a new coach during Covid. This is the risk of that kind of decision.
Lol last game was the first time wings won since December 2019 without a point from Larkin, Mantha or Bert
4/44 and 0 for last 17 on Wings PP Allowed 1 shorthanded goal. We would barely win a game we were on a PP for the whole game
Yea they've added ads this year electronically. My college roommate actually does it for the NHL with his company
Our team defense is solid but my god is this like watching paint dry. Bad and boring is the worst combination by far. At least last year we were a hilarious clown show. Now we are like mimes.
How can a team go twenty powerplays without a goal. Blashill really needs to go, his system is stunting our offensive young players growth. I know we don't have the best talent, but you can't tell me a Power Play unit with Larkin, Mantha, Zadina and usually Bertuzzi can't score in 20 straight attempts. And I think only got 2 shots in 4 tries tonight. The system is a joke
Dom Lusczyszyn of The Athletic created a metric called GSVA which is a mix of analytics and traditional stats that help determine how good a player is. Stetcher currently ranks 19th in the league amongst defensemen. The guy has been great.
