Just read the translated transcript of the conversation - Fognini isn't just a cockhead, he's an utter nutcase. He took a cheapshot at Caruso because... his opponent apparently had a bit of luck during the match. And this after he won a 5th set 14-12! To his credit, Caruso didn't get sucked in and behaved admirably. Not sure I would have had the same restraint. Someone's going to drop him on his ass if he keeps pulling shit like this.
FULL TRANSCRIPT (via Enrico Maria Riva) Fognini: You have been f***ing lucky, you should apologise, I didn’t disrespect you until now. Caruso: What are you talking about? Fognini: You won four identical lucky points. Caruso: What are you talking about? Fognini: Can’t I say you have been lucky? Caruso: I didn’t dare to say a single world in the whole match. Fognini: I said something because you called for it. Caruso: I didn’t dare to say a single world in the whole match, enough now. Fognini: Can’t I say you have been lucky? What’s the problem? Caruso: You can do whatever you want. Fognini: So why are you breaking my balls now? I said you have been lucky, if I’m wrong saying it, I’m wrong. Don’t attack me. Caruso: I didn’t attack you. I’m telling you it’s not the way to behave because I didn’t tell you a single world. Let’s say I didn’t expect that from you. Fognini: What did you not expect? I told you you have been lucky, you didn’t like it, what should I say? Caruso: It’s not the way to do it. Fognini: Why? What’s the problem?
Some random thoughts from yesterday's matches: - Just saw Stosur's score. Woof - time to hang the racket up, Sam. - Medvedev looked bloody good. He's my pick to make the final from the bottom half. - Massive win by Svitolina against Coco. I did not expect that at all. - Fognini is a cockhead.
Seems like there was a time not too long ago where the idea of Tennis Australia throwing Nick a scheduling bone would’ve been a no-go. But Kyrgios gets his wish and is on John Cain Arena for the Thiem match.
Sucks because I highly doubt FAA and Shapo would be on at the same time if they didn’t cater to him. I have it on the iPad but wish I could watch/listen to both.
Felix played outstanding would have never guessed that would be done in 3. Fritz took Q-tip to tb first set and that’s all I can ask. Wear him down a bit, I definitely think he has developed some coast in his game. Obviously he still has another level but the miles matter.
Wow fritz took a set. Novak take an injury timeout yet? edit: he did. I was watching the end of Swiatek so I missed it.
Lmao literally just flipped it on and naturally he’s holding his side like he’s dislodged a rib muscle yet somehow perseveres.
Man this is just sad. Crowds, even the limited ones allowed, made it such a better viewing experience. Especially on the big courts.
Meanwhile, on the women’s side, what a night Saturday is going to be: Osaka - Muguruza Serena - Sabalenka Halep - Swiatek Rogers - Kontaveit Barty - Alexandrova
He said in his post match interview that he definitely has a muscle tear and is unsure if he'll play again in the tournament.
Watched the Thiem/kyrgios match.. That guy is a psycho. Kept hitting himself in the head with a racket and yelling at official for no reason.
Biggest thing that happened in that Thiem Kyrgios match was in the fifth set, no breaks. I believe Nick was up 40-30, on serve, in the middle of the court where the ball came directly to him. He decided to hit a between the leg shot to return it. Doinked off his racket and Thiem broke him to go on and win it. That's how dumb Nick can be.
Am I out of my mind for thinking Medvedev is currently the best mover on the court in the men’s game? Also think he is going to take the AO this year.
Just pathetic. She must have lost her serve 4 times in the 1st set. This is why she will never win a slam - she's already been bypassed by the next wave.
Daughter of a Billionaire. Owns an Ice Hockey and American Football team. This is best slam performance to date.
