I agree with most of this. To your second point Biden has said he will build 500,000 charging stations. That would be a good start for sure.
He’s arguing non clean energy is used in production. He’s moving the goalposts because he knows he shouldn’t have stepped in. It’s why he won’t reply about more zero emission cars. It’s standard tmb shit posting.
What do you want me to respond to? Zero emissions cars are great Giving people a $7k tax credit to buy a $50k Tesla is dumb
The base Tesla is 38. I am due for a new car. 38 is a bit more than I want to spend. I’d feel more comfortable in the 25-30 range, but I prefer an EV. This tax credit can make the difference between me getting a zero emission car or not. The tax credit is a net positive.
I am stunned that this is why you and DBL like the tax credit- Because you want to buy a luxury car for $7k off
Using “Luxury car” instead of “zero emission car” gives up the game on you making a bad faith argument. The point of the tax credit is to encourage people buying zero emission cars, and I’m giving you a real example of it working.
I'm probably not buying one either way. Maybe the Jeep. Why are you opposed to giving incentives to people to buy things that are better for the planet? Are you against home solar incentives too?
You realize this isn't just for "rich people", right? It's for anyone buying a car. Making EV more affordable makes tbem available to more people.
IT'S NOT JUST FOR TESLAS Why can't you grasp that? Want a $35k Volt? Cool, here's your credit. If you consider anyone buying a new car to be rich, this is pointless.
this is news to the literally DOZENS OF MILLIONS of American men who choose to live in 150k houses and drive 55k pickup trucks that don’t haul anything except a couch once every two years
For people considering buying a Tesla do a little reading about how much insurance is and how impossible simple repairs are
I mean yeah I definitely have an enormous anti Tesla and anti elon bias. I’m readily willing to admit that
My insurance goes down $200 a year, which I dont know how because everyone has said what you said that insurance can be higher. The repair side seems hit or miss. One of my big thing with EVs are no oil changes, belts, etc.
lol wut. This isn't being salty toward you. This is pointing out that hating on incentives that are a net positive for the planet bc a company you hate would benefit is really dumb. If these were just for Chevy, you wouldn't hate them.
My model S P90D with ludicrous mode was cheaper than my Grand Cherrokee, thanks Flo. And minor repairs are done in my driveway usually with in a week. Have a service center about 4 miles away incase it cannot be fixed in the driveway. Would never own another vehicle besides Tesla moving forward.
What's insurance run on a tesla / ev? I've been driving a hybrid for about 3 or 4 years and my insurance has always been cheap as shit
Insurance is like most things in that you get what you pay for however, basic insurance on Tesla’s is generally higher because repairs cost more than other cars
I might own another vehicle besides a Tesla but don't think I'll ever be able to go back to an ICE vehicle, just purely for the driving experience. I guess we'll see how the repair side is soon but so far incredibly easy. My charge port door won't open properly and have some condensation in one my tail lights. Very easy though to be able to set that all up through the app and have them come out to my office to do the repair.
I’ve got a 3 with close to 30k miles on it. Only thing I’ve had done is a new front windshield and new tires. That’s it. I’ll never own another ICE vehicle.
I don’t really understand this correlation. So you have had one big repair and then tires fairly early? Compared to a normal new car at at 30k I would only have expected to have routine oil changes.
It's an incentive for all EVs, not just Teslas. It also helps out legacy automakers that maxed out the quota. Focusing on just Teslas is stupid
This whole thing is dumb. EVs are for the most part expensive. It's new bleeding edge technology. Any new technology is expensive then gets cheaper over time. For the good of the world the gov't his helping bridge the gap and ALL auto makers will benefit
