How amazing would've a Thanos Disney+ (if it were around then) series been leading up to IW? Basically spanning his life and then the final episode being when he takes the Orb from Xandar. Disney+ has now opened up so many more avenues for Feige. For which, he better do a proper Dr. Doom origin series. When it comes to rankings, IW is my clear #1, just an onslaught from the get go. But, the final act of Endgame along with the Vormir, Ancient One wrecking the Chitauri and Bruce, and 1970 New Jersey scenes, chef's kiss.
Endgame as a standalone movie is not a top 5er But as a season finale, as the conclusion to an arc, there's nothing better I've ever seen in a theater. Nothing has come close to "finishing" a film series/arc. Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean. Film arcs almost always run out of steam or struggle to finish properly. Closest I can think of to do it flawlessly is Toy Story 3 and Return of the King, and though I remember tearing up during both (Woody saying goodbye to Andy, and Sam carrying Frodo up Mt Doom), neither moved me the way I felt from "on your left" to Ant-Man turning big and uppercutting a space ship.
Don’t think I’ve ever re-watched Winter Soldier before today. So damned good... the early scene with Cap and Fury going back and forth about being proactive and reactive about defense building on the Civil War foundation, so so good.
Endgame has fallen into middle-of-the-pack for me. I don’t really enjoy the middle hour on rewatches anymore. Infinity War, however, is awesome start to finish.
Turned on tnt for like the last 20 minutes of infinity war, now I’m switching over to Disney+ because damn it i have to watch endgame now. got the house to my self, gonna start a fire and make an evening out of this.
the last 40 minutes are so are just amazing. I’ve sometimes watched the first 30 and then fast forwarded to Hulk putting the gauntlet on
We are about 2/3 through it now. It spans between quite a few movies. And the later seasons seem to have jumped the shark a bit.
there's alot good, and alot not so good. starts pre Winter Soldier. Winter Soldier happens about 2/3 thru S1. after S2 or S3 (can't remember) it doesn't follow the MCU at all.
As far as live action marvel shows without Feige’s involvement go it’s good. Don’t expect WandaVision quality. I still haven’t watched the last season now that I think about it. Also, really hope they can bring Chloe in as Quake in the MCU while completely scrapping that awful Inhumans show.
Agents of SHIELD definitely feels like it is set in a different universe now that the MCU has established the multiverse as canon. It doesn’t touch the films at all after Winter Soldier.
SHIELD is good for Coulson, the attractiveness of Chloe Bennet, and probably the best onscreen couple in MCU history in FitzSimmons
I was a bit triggered that they made El Camino. Still felt the series closed out all relevant story lines, especially Jesse’s.
It starts off trying to follow MCU timelines. S1 is...not good until it gets to the Winter Solider timeline, then the show takes off from D tier to B- S2 tried to incorporate Age of Ultron timeline by forcing in a stupid plotline and it detracted from the show. S3 had a sort of tie in with the fallout of Civil War and the Sokovia Accords but it started to not rely on the MCU as much. S4 is arguably one of the best seasons of a show on television and imo still better than WandaVision and it had pretty much no MCU tie in (other than also including some magical elements if you want to count that as a Doctor Strange tie in) S5 mentioned Thanos coming to Earth and the Black Order attacking New York briefly in the last few episodes of the season. S6 and S7 might as well be set in a completely different universe than the MCU, S7 is pretty good. Overall yes its worth watching.
If you want to get the full scope of the Agents of Shield experience, watch both seasons of Agent Carter after you finish season 1 of AoS.
AoS had some really good arcs, but rarely put together really good full seasons, IMO. I liked the show and watched all the way through, but there were a bunch of stretches for me where I got tired of waiting a week after watching episodes I didn't think were very good so I just waited until the end and binged through them. My favorite characters in the show also weren't the same as the characters the show wanted me to like the most, so the last few seasons were kind of "meh" for me, although I did like most of season 7.
I sometimes skip parts in the middle of Endgame, but I do the same with Infinity War with pretty much all the Gamora stuff, as well. I like Endgame better, but it's also 3 hours and I'm not going to watch a 3 hour movie over and over all the way through unless they added an hour to Ragnarok, which I would watch every day if I had the time.
IIRC he was the front runner but Feige stepped in and said go with Pratt because he had Hollywood experience and Howerton didn’t. He thought it would be easier to get Pratt into shape than to bet on a Hollywood rookie.
Season 4 was good start to finish. Seasons 2 and 7 were pretty consistently good, although 2 had the weird battle for SHIELD or whatever that was a miss for me. Season 1 was bad until it was awesome in the final 6-7 episodes (might be my favorite stretch of the show). I thought seasons 5 and 6 sucked all the way through.
Searched for this post just to say I’m Re-Reading Thor: God of Thunder, it’s so damn good and Taika is going to nail the God Butcher
I think Gunn has said he didn’t have much interest in Pratt but said his casting director was relentless about Pratt auditioning. Couldn’t have gone wrong either way imo.
