Is this the quickest a pro sports franchise has went to shit? I'd be interested in reading about any other situations like this. I've never seen anything like it that I know.
Raiders imploded after they got to the Super Bowl (starting with Barrett Robbins mental breakdown) and the Jags went to shit right after they lost to the Patriots in the AFC title game but not like this situation.
i think this is fairly unprecedented. i don't know of any other franchise in any sport that has just been taken over by a cult leader like this
Yeah even in cases of franchises going down in flames quickly (post MJ bulls, every time the Marlins win anything of consequence), the reasons are always completely boring. Cheap ownership, stupid GM, etc. This is much more insane than anything I can remember
i generally think people should stick with their teams but i think every texans fan should have a one time pass to pick any other team they wish. its uncharted territory
need deshaun to be traded asap so i can move on and accept my impending misery. and then jack easterby gets his own people in. this is just allllll pathetic.
Between 95 and 01, the Mariners won 3 AL West pennants and had 4 playoff appearances. They traded Randy Johnson in 98 at the deadline because they fell out of playoff contention and he was set to become a free agent. Traded Griffey after 99 because he wanted to play for the Reds. Lost Arod after 00 to an absolutely monster free agent contract from the Rangers. Added Ichiro in 01 and somehow tied the all-time MLB wins record with 116. Haven’t been back to the playoffs ever since. Not sure if that counts or not since it’s not as quick, but certainly makes up for it in the going to shit department post 01
there is no american professional sports situation that remotely compares to this so please save your stories about your various incompetent franchises because it certainly doesn’t apply
I don’t know...pretty comparable to Charlotte refusing 4 first round picks and drafting Frank Kaminsky instead or maybe that Nic Batum contract
How about 49ers a few years ago? It's hard to think of a NFL franchise with more off-season turnover than the 2014-'15 49ers. This team, which finished 8-8 last season (the first non-winning season in Jim Harbaugh's tenure) watched Harbaugh, offensive coordinator Greg Roman and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio depart to other teams; saw starting linebackers Patrick Willis and Chris Borland, defensive tackle Justin Smith and right tackle Anthony Davis retire; lost guard Mike Iupati, cornerbacks Chris Culliver and Perrish Cox, receiver Michael Crabtree and running back Frank Gore to free agency; and released offensive tackle Jonathan Martin and receiver Stevie Johnson. For good measure, the 49ers traded punter Andy Lee, who tied for third-best yards-per-punt average in 2014, to the Browns for a seventh-round pick in 2017 ... because general manager Trent Baalke decided to take a punter, Clemson's Bradley Pinion, in the fifth round of the draft. also, Tomsula
I’ve always said the biggest egos in the NFL are usually the owners and not the players and coaches. I can see the McNair family digging in for awhile with this shit
Russell Wilson is a nutball Christian like Easterby and he apparently wants out Maybe Watson for Wilson
His opinion could change quickly as long as he "sees a sign" of some type Texans just need to plant a sign... incept his dumb ass
the marlins won 92 games and a world series in 97, and then won 54 the next year. i don't know if that's the worst, but it has to be up there they weren't over .500 until 2003, when they also won the world series
Why did the Seahawks give a contract extension to their shitty GM? My son is a Seahawks fan so I try to keep up with them for him. That shit blew my mind considering how terribly he has drafted and managed the roster.
DK Metcalf most likely. also the owner of the Seahawks is Paul Allen's sister, whose interest in sports is questionable at best
Easterby will be telling McNair that, "even Jesus was persecuted" when there are fan protests against the franchise and they can't win more than 4 games a year
