Ok, IHHH and I will make this the Nordiques thread then. Viens t’en mon chum. C’est notre nouvelle maison ici.
The simplified panther was a merchandising solve for an original logo that looks great when big and terrible when small. The colors are simpler but it can still be sold as a call back to the original which is why it was on the helmet. I think it's more likely they got rid of it in anticipation of bringing back the original as alternate. Teams/organizations dropping secondary logos from the set isn't uncommon. UCF in 2007 had a whole bunch more and eventually phased a few versions out.
Blackhawks aren't good. Bobrovsky gave up 4 goals again. But this team seems to have a couple of new things potentially going for it. Net presence could be a big one. Seems a little less cute of play style and allowing for some randomness offensively. I think things really take off once the new goaltenders (Knight for sure) make it to the NHL though.
That Bob contract is a horrific albatross because Driedger is a good enough bridge in net for a year or two to get you to Knight or Levi. It's going to take some crazy sweeteners to incentivize a team to take that contract on.
He does the same thing every time. Until he proves he’s willing to try different things, you can’t use him.
He has a favorite move (late deke to backhand) but it's far from his only move. Guy has been as prolific of a shootout guy as anyone last 5 years. I'm sure he's more than capable.
You’d think, but every time he goes out there, it’s the same thing. He has other moves in his arsenal, but for the past few seasons, every move ends with him on his backhand trying to lift it over the goalie. When your finish never changes, as a goalie, you ignore everything else and sell out on putting your body in the way to take away the backhand. He’s in his own head at this point.
Not their best game, but they got zero puck luck, and Dreidger didn’t have his best game. That 3rd goal was a softy.
Really liked that game from the Panthers last night. They were absolutely caved in during the 1st period, then battled back the rest of the game. Really should have been a regulation win. Charmin soft call got the Canes the PP that tied the game. I don't like how many one goal games this team has played, but so far, their underlying numbers have been excellent.
Their underlying numbers keep getting better. Tonight was another game where they deserved a much better result.
