Wasn't the original plan for them to do two movies? If the original plan was for them to do one 3 hour movie with another 30 mins added on the blu ray, seems like that's where they went wrong in the first place. Although going with Snyder originally to do all of this is probably where you can say they went wrong originally.
The plan was indeed for a Justice League 1 and 2. Snyder only wrote and directed the first one, however. The 3/3.5 hour movie he was working on was just JL 1. JL 2 would have had Darkseid as the full on villain, as opposed to the glorified cameo he'll get in JL 1
That's insane. This whole thing seems like a giant waste of time to shut the internet up. Doesn't seem like it's going to make WB money since there's no theatrical release. Affleck is done as Batman. Fisher seems done with all WB things moving forward after his issues with Whedon and their response. They don't need this after the success of Aquaman to help that brand. I don't understand the point of all this, other than placating Snyder and his fans.
It boils down to this: Studios are burning money on content to attract subscribers to their streaming services. If there was no HBOMax, there would be no Zack Snyder's Justice League. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a Snyder/Affleck/Batman solo movie down the line for the same reason.
Dont think Affleck was that bad as Batman. Also with as method and insane as Leto is, he could've been a good Joker with good writing. This has to be better than Whedon's version
Affleck was great as Batman. I mean, he was going through a lot during the JL reshoots and he didn't have much to work with in that version of the movie, but he was great in BvS (despite the questionable material)
Affleck’s Batman has my favorite Batman suit (maybe 1a and 1b with Keaton’s OG suit). His brutality when fighting is from the Frank Miller grizzled era, my favorite and, the way he was depicted was the most comic book like. Big fan.
I think he’s done sadly. I believe Snyder mentioned his story might go on in comic form or animated movies but who knows. Maybe if the fans get HBO Max subscription numbers up and this new version is watched a shitload of times they might dump more money at Snyder and Batflecks feet.
I guess just the way it was written. Just always seemed like he didn't really care about the role. But IDK.
I understand they were trying to make it similar to TDKR, but all we really get is that Batman is jaded and angry. I understand his hatred of Superman is the destruction of his building and people dying, but I just felt like he was an angry dick with no backstory.
We were supposed to get more flashbacks to understand why the way he was in future movies. With Joker killing Robin etc.
It's almost like taking 2 of the most iconic storylines for each character and just meshing them together didn't work out great.
These games were, sadly, the only time I’ve given a shit about a DC property since Bale hung up the suit.
There were times in the movie where I was like “what the fuck am I even doing” and then others where I was “ok sharks and seahorses fighting? Awesome.” the black manta thing seemed duct taped in the middle
Its got to be incredibly frustrating and embarrassing as a WB exec to sit around and watch what Marvel has been doing the last 10+ years, knowing that you had a 30 yr head start and your characters had more recognition. And outside of hiring Nolan, still cant do hardly anything right.
“When we got to see what Joss actually did, it was stupefying,” says a studio executive, who requested anonymity. “The robber on the rooftop—so goofy and awful. The Russian family—so useless and pointless. Everyone knew it. It was so awkward because nobody wanted to admit what a piece of shit it was.”
