I can promise you that I fucking despise Gus and actively cheered against Auburn for the last three years. I could not stand paying 7 million a year to lose 4 games every year. But, given the time frame, who could UCF hire that is better? There are plenty that are better, but who is better that would have taken the job.
Wonder if Mack is looking back at UCF now going “well shit” Spoiler nah, he is probably starting so he is good
I am still not 100% sold on P5 to G5 coaches, but Gus won the press conference, now let's see if he wins the players and games next year.
Players liked him for the most part. If he goes all in on the hurry up offense he’ll be fine. He should be able to get enough athletes to cause trouble for defenses. He has to get better at the OL position though. Auburn signed their first OT from high school since 2017 in this cycle.
I'd be concerned about him calling plays if he doesn't evolve. He struggles to hire offensive assistants for his system, and usually has to resort to grooming someone in his coaching tree. I think the positives you can take from his last season at AU was he went out of his circle to hire an OL coach. The recruiting damage had been done at that point, but I thought that was a step in the right direction even though it didn't yield immediate results for us on the field. He also had a pretty good OL class put together before the season fell apart. I think he knows what he needs to do better but the passing game has to get better. His QB coaching sucks for sure. Needs a great runner who can make up for it.
Guy on our board has a connection at UCF, says Gus is meeting with the staff at 4 today and as of now they think Randy stays due to his contract, so he’s guessing maybe co-DC’s?
I'm gonna put the odds at 100% that she posted a pic of herself enjoying life on social media during the time the Panhandle was being decimated by Hurricane Michael in 2018.
Herb sucked at auburn. Gibbs was only there for one season, the Brodie croyle sackfest I think, but was not that impressed otherwise.
It's almost impossible to have a good defense when Heupel runs the offense. Gibbs is a good hire. Secondary was a strength and he's a good recruiter
Guys, this the AAC. Things like offensive line coaches don’t matter. If you have a good scheme and fast players, you’ll probably win 10 games. Even Josh Heupel could win 10 games here.
I can’t believe Auburn hired him after what he did at PSU. His OL’s were the worst D1 OL’s I have ever seen. The sanctions/Bill O’Brien’s roster management absolutely contributed. Herb took the big ole pile of dog shit on the OL and mashed it into the carpet. Good recruiter though.
He was with Gus at Tulsa and no other OL coach wanted any part of gus’s offense. He didn’t even recruit well at auburn.
