My powers been out here in weatherford since yesterday at 3 am. I was told not to expect it on till friday at the earliest. So got a hotel thru thursday night. They are doing rolling blackouts which i can deal with. But about 45 mins ago the fire alarms went off. The 3rd floor sprinklers busted and had to be shut off. Now we have no water. At least i will enjoy my 3 days worth of arbys i picked up today. Come on Spring.
Insulated houses and a functioning electrical grid are two big first steps. A fireplace with 6 months of firewood stored out back and a generator are two nice backups.

Just saying I bought these rechargeable headlamps off Amazon and they have been clutch the past two nights. Make sure you get the ones that have the flashing red and green so you can yell “STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW” at your wife and son when you sneak up on them around a corner in the freezing cold darkness. Same thing here in KC. I love checking traffic reports after storms. Kansas side, clean roads, no traffic, no accidents. Missouri side, highways shut down, hundreds of wrecks, catastrophe everywhere.
