I’ve eaten there, though it was a few years ago. The food is fantastic, but it’s whole sensory experience. Not just tastes. $1200 for my wife and I with wine pairing. Worth every penny.

I’ve been to Alinea and Alinea AIR.

Grant is awesome and the experiences are worth the price. Alinea Air was incredible and the best meal I’ve ever had

Going to French Laundry in August, excited to compare the two experiences

I prefer gas, but i saw a specialized curved induction burner for a wok and was very intrigued.

my dad in old age got tired of the mess certain things make in your kitchen so bought an induction burner that he'd walk out on his deck next to his kitchen to fry and make smash burgers

that was when i saw the light

also there's a secondary part of Bruenigs whole schtick in that gas for most people isn't going to be an option down the road so people better get used to alternatives

I have one like that. It’s definitely cool for locking in a specific temp for frying, etc.

finished the second half of a valentines day meal kit we bought(mostly). the growth of meal kits in covid is kind of great.

beef wellington with black truffle sauce and prosciutto potato pave with mornay

king crab salad they had that we ate yesterday was also nuts, been getting in the habit of trying new cheeses every week so made a little board of snacks with that too

First pizza of mine I actually enjoyed and feel I can share. Tasted really good. Next time, I’ll slice the pepperoni a little thinner. I also used two cake pans instead of a Detroit style pizza dish like was recommended for the recipe. I just ordered one so it’ll be perfect for my next attempt

i imagine there are people on this board and in this thread into cheese

recent bougie hobby, schnebelhorn the current favorite. learn to wrap your cheese though, needs to breathe but you also don't want your fridge smelling like feet. learned that lesson the hard way.

I love pretty much every type of cheese, besides Brie. I don't get why people go nuts over something that has barely any flavor and reminds me of runny plastic. Give me any stinky cheese or heavy blue, but keep the Brie.

Life's too short to waste time trying to like brie when there's hundreds of superior cheeses out there. My wife likes Brie though so it usually makes its way onto our cheeseboard in some form so I'll usually give it a little taste to confirm my feelings about it.

I can buy goat cheese directly off the shelf at any supermarket and it is still a better option than any brie I have ever had imo. I have tried every brie ever put in front of me and have walked away with the same impression, meh.

We will agree to disagree on this issue due to taste buds. We apparently have different ones.

but there's plenty of good brie out there even if it wouldn't be high on my list of choices, my post was more about the its melted plastic take

Outside of the local farmers markets, most of my cheese purchasing is at Trader Joe’s. There’s obviously higher quality stuff out there, but the quality per price point can’t be beat imo.

i'm about to move in a few weeks and will be easy walking distance to Whole Foods which also seems to have an impressive cheese selection

Trader Joes is a bit further but will have to scope it out, make a trip there periodically to load the freezer up anyways
