Na at the intro they had all adults get out of it. And there's no warning signs on tnose seats saying adults can't sit in them.

I agree though I seriously question whether Ford will be able and willing to provide software upgrades at the rate, and to the effectiveness of Tesla. They definitely have a manufacturing advantage from a quality perspective, but Tesla's tech advantage is hard to ignore. Going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. Competition is good though.

Still annoyed they used the Mustang name on an e-crossover vehicle. Just give it a new name. It doesn't look bad though.

If it were a sportscar, I would agree. If they had made an electric version of the Mustang, it would make sense. But now they have a gas sportscar Mustang and an electric crossover Mustang. The electric crossover has nothing in common with any Mustang ever made other than being made by Ford.

Yea, wasn't sure what he was talking about on that front. From everything I've heard/read they're super easy to repair because they only have like 30ish moving parts. It's one of the big advantages electric vehicles have over ICE vehicles, the maintenance on them is much smaller.

Eh, it's basically a Mach 1 with 4 doors. It does keep some Mustang characteristics. I can see the similarities

It's also funny they call it an SUV

Insurance can be hit or miss so you should check rates before buying. After one surprisingly high quote I ended up paying the same for my model 3 performance as I did on my old ford fusion. I also have had zero problems but I still wouldn't recommend buying one if you don't have a service center close by.

Closer to an Edge than a Mach 1 imo. And yea the SUV label is dumb but we've been there before. I just think the Mustang Mach label was lazy not relevant to that car at all.

The bolded is partially being done with the VW diesel scandal grant money. It's a joke though. They are giving out 32 different grants for sections of interstate in Florida. The grants are for up to $500,000 per segment. I'm not sure how many chargers you could put in for $500,000 , but I bet you could install a lot.
7-Eleven won one of the bids and will install two EV fast chargers (ChargePoint Express 250) for a total of $304,000

Someone is making a lot of money on the side winning these grants.

Looking to get my wife the Tesla Y in the summer. I hope the credits come out by then. Can I add the self driving feature later on? $10,000 sounds like a lot.
What features would you add/delete on the Tesla's you own?
How many times have you had to take it in to the dealer?

That $125k for construction seems a little high, but for some of this they do a lot of work and some they don’t. One Sheetz here put like 6 or 8 in and it tore up a whole corner of their lot to rebuild with the chargers. The other Sheetz just added on charger beside a space and it seems pretty non envisage, but was also after they had done a total renovation.

It's just a really hard problem that requires a TON of neural net training. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they were harvesting user data to speed up the process

You can add the self driving later, honestly I wouldn't get it right now. All teslas come with their base autopilot which is mostly all you need. They are also coming out with a subscription package for it very soon, so that'll be interesting to see what that looks like. You don't really get to pick what features you get, it's how they keep cost down and stream line production. Basically your only choices will be what size battery, what color exterior and interior, and what type of wheels. Haven't had to deal with service yet but actually have my first mobile appointment this Thursday at my office for some condensation in a tail light and my charge port door won't open on it's own.

Don't they openly do that? I was under the impression that all self driving data is being reported back to Tesla. It's why most people think they will win the race for automation since they are getting millions of miles a year of data over any competitor.

That's just from the winning bid I was looking at at the time. Others have a lot more markup. Some you can tell did it just to make money because they put it in a completely worthless spot in the back corner of an empty building off 95 in Hollywood

I put 2 ChargePoint Lvl 2 chargers on a site. Ability to charge 4 vehicles. Foundations for the machines, electrical, bollards, separate meter, permits, etc...it was about $25,000. It was an existing site so there were no savings for already having my crew mobilized or using heavy equipment on site. I am in discussions with Tesla to install them on some future sites and they pay for everything. The land owner does not get any revenue but I would get the benefit of having chargers on site with my tenants. Just real unbiased info from someone who went through the process and is still learning about the whole industry.

I don't know if they do or not but it's the smartest way to get actual self-driving to work. And I'm talking all driving data since freeway driving has pretty much been solved.

So the only benefit to the property owner is that people will have to stop there? And there is no expense to them?

    That’s not a bad deal.

Given where charging speeds are right now, pretty much everyone stopping to fuel up is looking to kill 20-60 minutes of time. That’s a lot of highly likely revenue for local businesses

You can put in an order now and just tell them the general time that you actually want the car. I waited 2-3 months I think? But I ordered during the heart of the pandemic. I suggest scheduling a test drive and talking to an advisor before you place an order. It's nice to have someone to bounce questions off of if any pop up.

They make the cars in batches so you will not get an exact date until it gets closer to the window given by the sales advisor. I picked my model 3 up in June so July should be ok. Just keep in mind, until the Berlin factory is open, there are times of the year that they switch production over to right hand drive vehicles for Europe.

It's great that you've been installing them. I've dealt with ChargePoint a lot in the past and I'm not a huge fan.

I've been doing dual chargers on the same pedestal with ClipperCreek.
    HCS-50: 40A , 9.6kW
    HCS-80: 64A, 15.4kW.

The total cost of each dual (Mount and 2 of the EV chargers) is about $2,400
Installation varies based on accessability to power and how much we want to pull. But it's been as low as $3,400 and as high as $8,000.

Total cost for installing dual chargers for me has ranged $6,000-$10,500. or $3,000-$5,000/charger

Mine are also not connected to the internet, so there's no monthly fees. The downside is, I can't charge people to park, have a map that shows that they're available, or see if they're offline. So far I've put them mostly in gated areas (only our people can access them), but a few are at places where I don't care if people are charging (near tennis courts, baseball fields, etc.).

Here's a slightly out-dated chart that shows you how many miles are added per hour of charging: https://clippercreek.com/charging-times-chart/

Most manufacturers have been capturing all the data for a while. I know Ford has. They finally integrated with a GPS company we use and now I can see the second the modem is installed in trucks at the factory. It's pretty cool to see them in the factory they were built--> Go to upfitter --> wait forever in a huge parking lot to get on a train--> ride to wherever the dealer is -->sit at dealer for a month for no reason -->get delivered.

    Update on this:

Incredibly convenient. I missed the message that he was at my office but went outside to get something out of my car and he was wrapping it up. Both repaired under warranty and while he was there he changed out some prongs in my charge port because I guess they've had problems with them. If I had waited 5 more minutes to go outside I wouldn't have even known he was there and just would have got a message on the app that the repairs were done.

Really hoping Tesla will make it possible in the future, being able to reverse power back to your house. The model 3 has a 75 KW battery that could power a lot of stuff for a good bit in a situation like this. The new Lucid's will be capable of doing this as well.
