That’s dumb tbh If they’re playing the season they’re going to hand out awards. It hurts absolutely nothing and it generates a lot of fan interest and discussion. It would be taking away something meaningful to the players for no reason.
I don’t doubt that they’ll give them out, but they’ll have a giant asterisk attached to them for obvious reasons.
Also, I want to see the NHL modify the current set up to mirror baseball. I don’t need to see Detroit play every team; create four divisions, two conferences and have inter league play. I don’t need to see Detroit vs Chicago eight times a year, but I would love to see them play six times. If the sacrifice for that is only playing Anaheim every few years, so be it.
