Coming back and passing Chase doesn't mean anything either if the caution is already out, nor does leading to the line. Race goes back to the last scoring loop whenever the caution was thrown. And NASCAR is saying the race was over before McDowell, Chase and Dillon got side by side. What makes no sense is FOX's graphic. It had Larson 4th at the time of the caution, when the guy is in the wall and behind Hamlin, and you can see caution light is still green on track in the turn. Caution light didn't come on until well after the wreck had happened. I should note McDowell may have won, IDK. But they haven't really done a good job to show when the caution came out considering 3 cars were side by side.
When I said he came back and passed him, I thought Chase passed him and then he passed Chase before it came on but the video from Chase's car shows it came on when him and McDowell were side by side.
Idk how to feel at these super speedways when 3/4 of the good cars wreck out and a Daytona 500 fails in someone's lap. No offense to McDowell I guess but man those races are unsatisfying.
It’s a more legit win then a few others over the past few years. McDowell has been around the front on the Speedway races a lot, so this isn’t a total fluke win.
Thinking back to that rain shortened race at Pocono that Buescher won on a Monday (iirc) being the closest corollary.
Track dryer, jet dryer is what I’ve always known them to be. Also, that race was boring af last night.
Was going to be boring after half the field got taken out on lap 15. I figured they were just going to ride the top until the last few laps after that happened
The Air Titans are a specifically made drying truck & components that have had that name since introduced. It’s supposed to be faster and more efficient so better for the environment. NASCAR made those and they bring them to each race. Then tracks also have your typical jet dryers.
Cars involved in the caution are placed behind the cars that were not. Larson hit the wall and spun. The graphic was just a quick visual aid for the top 2-3. Stop reading into it.
Bubba Wallace is overrated. He has done nothing in Cup yet was gifted one of the best rides. So many other drivers are more deserving of a top ride. MJ said he wants him to win now. If he doesn't win after 2-3 years, do they remove him?
No. MJ wouldn't be involved if not for Bubba Wallace. MJ wasn't getting involved if it was some generic white guy driving.
Worth noting Bubba was going to post a pretty good finish if he snuck through that carnage at the end of the 500. And it's not the drivers fault the car failed tech twice and went from starting 6th to the rear of the field. But on the whole, "deserving" of a ride isn't really a thing in this iteration of NASCAR. You're as good as the $$$ and sponsors you bring with you.
He's also 13th in points and would make the playoffs today if we want to go ahead and judge the season
I like Bubba, but I thought he made some pretty poor decisions in the 500. He should have finished higher with the car that he had
Wow weird reaction for results after 2 races. Couple thoughts on the various things. 1. This is a good ride and a big upgrade from the 43, but also a new team so they will have some work to do. 2. Bubba has acknowledged the pressure getting and taking the ride has put on him. He knows if he doesn’t get results by year 3 (my guess, give them 1 year in old car & 2 in new car) then he’s probably out. 3. Deserving is subjective today. 4. I haven’t read any stories on starting 23XI but with all the new teams coming ahead of the new car and $$ savings he might have come anyway.
I'm at homestead now drunk AF and I just want to say this is fucking amazing and I'm a fan for life. Buschhhhhhh
I went into today expecting to have a great time laughing at the people attending a nascar race but ended up having the time of my life with a diverse group of people just looking to have a good time. Lesson learned. Can't wait to go back.

Adding a competition caution every 50 laps due to tire wear. They really should have partnered with Hoosier for this thing.
