he was statistically and per my viewing subjectively one of the worst SPs in the league last year. He’s been horrible since 2018, and will be 29. He doesn’t have ace stuff and doesn’t merit paying whatever arbitration dictates. It’s a rebuild.

Don’t disagree and I pretty much fell off the Rocker train a while ago. I have warmed up to Davis since he’s regarded as the runaway best C prospect in the class. In the flip side, it’s disappointing that they didn’t go for the best player available (Mayer) because frankly they just need talent. They must think they’re set at SS with Ji-Hwan Bae. They could’ve absolutely used someone like Leiter, but it’s pretty reasonable to believe he intentionally priced himself out of Pittsburgh and I can’t say I’d blame him.
I don’t mind going under slot/safe pick when there’s no clear cut number one. Hopefully they use the funds wisely in the second round.
