Potbelly and Which Wich have better variety, but if you're looking for your standard turkey sub, it's hard to beat Jersey Mike's quality and consistency.
Of that list I'll take Jersey Mike's or Potbelly, depending on what I'm looking for at the time. Favorite cold sub chain is Cousins, but that really only exists in Wisconsin and a few places in IL/IN, I think.
I like going to Which Wich and getting overwhelmed with options, picking a bunch of different toppings and dressings with no regard to how they complement each other, and receiving a truly disgusting abomination of a sandwich. I have only myself to blame.
honestly the best sub/sandwich i think i've ever had was from the boars head sandwich shop at kent state university. those were god tier sandwiches.
They are really good IMO. There's one in Florence SC that goes by Palmetto Subs but appears to have exact same food
lived in Florence in middle school and definitely went to Palmetto Subs but never made that connection. Used to be beside an ice cream place if memory serves.
It's wild because they were fairly ubiquitous in NC and then within like 6 months you couldn't find one.
They have them here but if I want a sub I go to a local spot like Antone’s. Never saw one when I was in Arkansas so always went to firehouse, green submarine or loafin Joe’s
A quick breakdown on Quiznos. Between 2007 and 2017 they went from 4,700 U.S. locations to fewer than 400. Crazy. https://www.restaurantbusinessonline.com/financing/brief-history-quiznos-collapse
Actually walked over to Antone’s this weekend and grabbed a super original. Haven’t had one in forever and I was craving a sub.
There’s apparently a Quiznos about 5 miles from where I’m working right now. Will be getting takeout today, apparently.
Chose Firehouse...Jersey Mike's is good too, just prefer Firehouse. Have not had Penn Station. Also hot take is I don't mind Subway at all but they did eliminate roast beef from their menu so that's fucking dumb.
Now the old goodcents jingle will be stuck in my head for the next few days. Penny club on wheat was my go to. Used to love their chocolate chip cookies too.
There was a Which Wich in Lincoln I used to love going to when I lived close to it. Just looked it up and it was killed by the pandemic. Kinda sad about that
I’m a firm believer that hot and cold subs should be evaluated separately. As such it’s Penn Station and Jersey Mike’s, respectively. Potbelly’s hot peppers/giardiniera merit special consideration.
Voted Jersey Mike’s. Firehouse second. Port of subs #1, tho. Capriottis is up there, too. They don’t count as National, though.
Firehouse and Jersey Mike’s of the options closest to me. Will eat Subway without hesitation though. I still remember the good old days before they sold out for mass expansion.
Voted Potbelly’s but don’t even view that as national, Jersey Mike’s to me is the most consistent and prevalent
Jersey Mikes for hot and cold for me. The Italian and Philly are amazing. Absurdly expensive though. Publix is good and far cheaper. I grab it about half the time.
Underrated post.. Lenny's Sub in the Delta was absolute fire. Helped that it was free for me most of the time.
