Sandbridge is nice. Probably the most rental property type place. A little isolated. Ocean front is pretty cheesey and ratty outside a few spots. Was kinda surprised how far it's fallen when I went back 2 years ago. There are some isolated nice spots.

It's been so long since I've been out to sandbridge, but you're pretty isolated from the Bar areas.

There used to be a tiki bar pretty close, but that was at least a decade ago.

If you're familiar with the outer banks, Sandbridge is the closest thing you'll get to some towns down there. It's an isolated barrier island that is a few streets between the ocean and back bay.

It's the southern most point in VB on the coast a d yoi have to go inland before you can go north towards the oceanfront or Shore Drive.

Probably like 30 minutes to the oceanfront and maybe a tab more to Shore Drive

Not sure which are more dangerous, Great Whites or locals.

Seaside residents are notorious assholes to non residents. Good case of localism will get your car vandalized or fought in the water.

This poor bastard wasn't even surfing

Eeewwww. Do not like. Would def choose Sandbridge if you're gonna do VB. It's about 30 min to the area known as Oceanfront. That's the touristy area and I avoid it at all costs. Sandbridge is beautiful with great beaches. Not many bars/restaurants. Duck and Corolla are 2 great options in the OBX. Good restaurants/bars. Can get a lot of house up in the 4WD area but as stated you need a 4WD to access. Cape Charles is an awesome hidden gem. One of my fav places. Small beach on the Bay but very cool spot with great restaurant options. Has a brewery, distillery, and winery. Shit yeah.

Alaska just moved these flights to now go through Seattle I believe but don't know for sure since they are making me call them to confirm, fairly annoying.

On a different note Kauai has maintained a mandatory 3 day quarantine at one of 6 pre approved hotels which is making me consider cancelling. You can do 3 days at a different hawaiian island and then fly to kauai but if you fly direct to kauai you have to quarantine.

May have to start looking for other places like Baja or somewhere else.

Leaving tomorrow - land at Liberia airport around 12:45 then a 2.5 hour transfer to the hotel.

Doing nothing for two days then surfing, yoga, and party time.

Have two buddies randomly down there who have procured “things,” so that should be fun.

Do you know yet if you’re flying into Barcelona or Madrid? Depending on how much time you have, I’d recommend flying into Madrid, hitting up their two main art museums, swing south to Toledo, and then train over to Barcelona for the rest of the duration. You’d only need like two days for this little jaunt. Toledo is fucking incredible, and most of Spain’s main paintings are in Madrid.

two years ago we did this with my father in law (his first time leaving the country) we did this exact trip and it was super easy and he loved it especially for the art museums, good first time itinerary......all my other times to Spain I had tried to go see so much of the country that I never got chill and just really focus on Madrid and Barcelona

porto and wine country are great. If you’re looking to splurge, six senses in the duoro valley is amazing. You could also just do a day tour of wineries and come back. Haven’t been to Lisbon but Id swap Madrid for San Sebastian though. Place is heaven on earth if you like food.

San Sebastián isn’t anywhere close to where I’ll be, unfortunately. We’re flying out of Madrid so we’ll likely do a couple days there and a day trip out to some suburb or satellite town.

I was planning on just Barcelona (and I have a friend in South France who I was going to take a day's trip to go and see). Im thinking like 3 days in Barcelona, 1 day to go and see my friend, and 1 day for Toledo. I may do Madrid as well if you really recommend it.

    Whats toledo like?

Assuming things go according to plan (they won't), looking to manifest living abroad in early 2022.

    Sept/Oct 2021 - quit job
Jan 2022 - India (if feasible), somewhere in SE Asia, maybe whatever is accessible in Oceana for 4-5 weeks
Feb 14, 2022 - relocate to Medellin for 4-5 months
    Summer 2022 - PNW
Jan 2023 - relocate to Hanoi for 4-5 months
    Summer 2023 - PNW
Re-group, see how much longer I want to try this

If your going to Toledo then you have to do Madrid since they are so close. Toledo is small old city that is where Moors/Jews/Catholics have significant meaning so there is tons of history. Very pedestrian friendly and you can knock it out in a day.

I'll be working/employed the entire time, hopefully. Just moving to a parttime/digital nomad role. Have developed some decent passive income, and hope to have another rental property before the end of this year. Will also be renting out my condo in Seattle, although that will just be to cover my mortgage. Will use from now until Oct/Nov to save.

You're an attorney, right? I'm first going to try a parttime/remote position for like 20-25 hours/week. Also know some folks that do some freelance stuff here: https://www.lawclerk.legal/ -- going to try a few projects there once I have all my ducks in a row.

Edit: Medellin is the first choice because the GF grew up there and has a lot of family/connections. Same timezone, so working should be OK. And they have a family house we can stay at for free for a month or so:https://www.instagram.com/casafincapalmas/?hl=en
