Looks like this album's called L.W. Had been thinking these tracks felt like a continuation of K.G. so that makes sense out next Friday
goddamnit. As one of my most nostalgic bands of my late mid/late 20s and their eponymous still being among my top albums of all time, this sucks.
Random quote here but stumbled into the No Age album and really enjoy it. Not sure what I was doing that I didn’t give it a fair shake but it’s outstanding.
Deceiver by DIIV is such an elite album. Loved it when it came out in 2019. But listening to it a lot this weekend and it is so sick. Oshin is an all-timer too obviously
I was late to Kevin Morby’s Sundowner, but have been listening to it while working the past few weeks and it’s grown on me a ton. I’m so ready for a post-pandemic Waxahatchee/Kevin Morby show here in Kansas City. Wild Pink’s A Billion Little Lights is sounding pretty good as well after a few listens.
Morby has lost me. Oh My God was fine, had some good tracks. If the Car Seat Headrest album was the most disappointing, I thought Sundowner might have been the downright least enjoyable album I listened to in 2020 Bands I most want to see live right now Country Westerns Bully White Reaper Parquet Courts Preoccupations Protomartyr Cloud Nothings Omni Nots Goat Girl Different strokes I guess. I wanna mosh
That's totally fair, it's totally possible I'm forcing myself to like it more than I would with another artist because of the KC connection. I'm definitely with you on Parquet Courts, their stuff from the early and mid 2010's has aged really well for me.
I listened to Singing Saw and Harlem River on some very long drives in 2020. His first four albums are classics Funny how for all the loud punk shows I used to attend, a Morby show was the one that seemed to trigger my inner-ear issues
I didn’t get into Morby until City Music so the distance between that and this newer sound in Oh My God and Sundowner is not as drastic as if I were in it from the start. I don’t mind it and find some of it quite beautiful.
It didn’t hit me until now but the lead singer kinda sounds like Colin Meloy. Anyway, this album fucks.
I think it’s well composed but goddamn he’s been singing about the same pretentious shit for like three records straight now
Call me Stan. I just made a JB themed playlist the other day featuring lots of women artists. I love her voice.
Big fan of the Pgrove. What album are you referring to, Amperland, NY? Haven't had a chance to listen, bit I figured it was just love recordings of old songs. Marigold was one of my favorite albums of last year. Pretty sure Dotted Line was my #1 song on that Spotify year end thingy.
Yeah, Amperland. Maybe I misunderstood, thought it was the soundtrack to a new movie? I found it searching 2021 stuff
Yeah it is, but it looks like most of it is just re-recordings of their album, Marigold, that came out last year.
